Do you know how much money one could save simply by switching off computers and other unused electronic gizmos at night?Neither do I. But a new advergame spawned from the 1E Energy Awareness Campaign demonstrates how office workers can do their part to lower their company’s power bill and lessen the negative environmental impact of energy waste.
In Turn It All Off, players navigate around an office workspace turning off as many computers, lights, and other electronic doohickeys as possible within the time limit. Obstructing the path to energy conservation is some jerk who wanders around turning everything on.
Other obstacles to success include overworked employees who have fallen asleep on their PCs (lure them away with a freshly brewed pot of coffee). Make the most of your limited time by avoiding closets in which over amorous coworkers wait to capture you for a quick snog. Likewise, resist the urge to photocopy your derriere.
When the game timer reaches zero, a Personal Energy Audit will reveal how much juice you saved. Do well and you’ll be promoted and assigned to manage a larger office. Do not so well and you’ll have to start again.
