Damned idiots.... why go out of their way for freaking gaming stuff? This coming FROM a gamer.
Now Jack, before you post here, read through the comments already posted. If you would take at least two minutes out of free time that i'm sure you have, you would see that the people who are posting here are just as disgusted at the actions of these individuals as you are.

Arghhh... me and my girlfriend are about to move to Arlington, and we both love video games. And for the whole summer I have been trying to convince her that crime isn't that bad around DFW. Nooooooooo...

I hope they find the second guy soon. That is just a bullshit thing to to. Robbery of anyone is bullshit and done by weak people who lose at the game we call life. Funny thing, if they had tried that in my area they would have been shot dead because the Gamestop is located in between a gun shop and a police barracks.

That analogy doesn't appear logical, John.
How is the illegal use of a weapon to commit a crime the same as one of dozens of game development companies providing entertainment software to those who have an interest in it?
After all, Rockstar isn't operating illegally, unlike the theives you refer to.
And if you don't like what Rockstar provides, how did they illegally force you to purchase and/or play their software?

Brokenscope,
Actually, most flash games are freebies.
Since the industry is commercial, the only one I can think of as commercial, even though it's Independant, is "Ethnic Cleansing". At least, if I remember right, that one was shareware. So, technically, it is commercial and could feasibly be considered industry material.
Still, the problem becomes misuse of the technology.
Hmmm...
Ok, Hot Coffee wasn't meant to be played. It took special 3rd party software to unlock it, so I can't use it here.
But, armed robbers are to legal gun owners what (company that passes off a game as E rated but embeds a gameplay unlockable hardcore sex scene (as opposed to requiring 3rd party unlockers)) is to the legal industry.
I have a vague memory of there having been one, but I can't remember for certain. Not sure if it were an Easter Egg or not.

@ nightwng2000
My thoughts exactly. They probably thought they could get away with robbing a speciality store and make a decent profit off selling the merchandise. It'd practically be suicide to rob a store like Wal-Mart and you probably wouldn't get much.
@ kurisu7885
Yep. Well that's half of it. I also figure they took a 360 or two. I remember in one of the original PS3 robberies the thieves robbed a GameStop and took both PS3s and 360s.
They probably stole both consoles, and maybe a few games. Especially games that aren't officially released yet. Other than a Wii, I doubt there would of been anything else of extreme value to steal.

I agree it was a bad analogy, however it wasn't a comment on the illegality. It was a comment on the image hit.

Much as I hate the scumsucking parasite myself, is it really necessary to invoke him right off the bat here?
A gamestop got robbed. If it had been a gas station, a wal-mart, or a McDonalds no one would be caring about JT. Heck, the only reason this made news was because of the pair of young boys that got caught up in it all.
I'm all for making fun of Jacky-boy when he does something idiotic (Or has the potential to), but let's call a spade a spade here.
Submitted by pokemaster2185 - July 30, 2007 at 10:38 am -0500
Yeah, if JT claims something like that, then we can fire back with all his claims about murder simulators and such. Surely, they would have been easily capable of handling the situation? Where were the cranial menus? Where was the killer instinct? Clearly, those two need to devote more time to training...

I can't wait to see what Thompson's reply to this is. More than likely he will make a claim that "The gamers did nothing to stop the crime" so we can safely rebut with "Would you willingly try to stop a guy who was willing to use a gun?"

I watched and read the report.
It seems they stole expensive gaming equipment. No word on what it was, but I'm sure we can all guess. I highly doubt they intended to play them. They most likely intended to sell the equipment.
I'm surprised that someone would do this, then again I'm surprised at crime in general being a (mostly) law-abiding citizen.

Hello, I like your blog and thought I would submit a post since, my business and blog is in the video surveillance and pos field so it pertains to yours at least somewhat. I just wrote an article on Video Surveillance called Video Surveillance Preparation. Here is an excerpt:
With crime on the rise many people and business are looking for added security. Video surveillance is one the top ways to improve the security of your belongings and loved ones. I get asked alot about what is good or recommended and although each situation is different there are some common things to consider when showing a video surveillance system that will bring the required results.

Posted 03/21/10 at 05:55pm Andrew Eisen: Cut the muster? That wouldn't make a lot of sense. You could pass it sure but cut it?
Posted 03/21/10 at 05:53pm JDKJ: As in: "Zippy always cuts the cheese but he never cuts the muster."
Posted 03/21/10 at 05:51pm JDKJ: And I believe the expression is more properly "cut the muster," not "mustard." Not to be confused with "cut the cheese."
Posted 03/21/10 at 05:48pm JDKJ: I kinda like the way it's left to the imagination. Like the shower scene in Hitchcock's Psycho.
Posted 03/21/10 at 05:46pm Andrew Eisen: A flying shoe doesn't quite cut the mustard. If it was shot like a similar scene in Bride of Chucky, Gage's death would rank a lot higher.

PS3 machines most likely is what I'm guessing you mean.
Some people have tried to rob big stores, but usually that is for cash, not merchandise.
And, yeah, it's more likely to be to sell rather than keep. I suspect those that steal to keep usually rob homes, though they do sell that stuff too.
