And to suggest or infer that because someone games they don't exercise is really reaching. I play games and I exercise fanatically both weight training and cardio, and eat extremely healthy. Debunking another one of your little chunks of misinformation, video games do not lead to obesity in children. Children being lazy leads to obesity in children. Parents not getting their child to get up off their ass leads to obesity in children. Parents who don't give a shit about what their child eats and does not try and get them to do any physical activity leads to obesity in children. I have played video games my whole life and while I would be happier losing a few pounds, I am in good health and nowhere even near obese. The thing is, I understand that sitting in front of a screen for hours on end is not good for my health. If more parents taught their kids this instead of letting them sit there and vegetate then there would be a lot less obesiity in children.

To finish Mr Thompson, I think I have to reiterate my disgust at the complete lack of taste, tact and basic human decency in your posts here. You tried to tell Gamerdad that you would put him in touch with parents of shooting victims. Maybe of the parents of the shooters had followed the good advice that people like Gamerdad provide then these tragedies wouldn't have happened.

How the hell do video games induce obesity or heart problems? They don't that's how. It's truw that there are some who play video games all day and don't work out or go outside? Yes. What pissed me off was Jack in a sideways manner basically accused Gamerdad of being responsible for shootings as he is for parental education rather than fascist nanny-state bullshit.

No jack, some people are born with high blood pressure and a history of heart problems, like my mother's family. Some are born with a greater trend to obesity, like my girlfriends'. Some are born with psychological problems, like yourself. Video games don't lead to this, bad luck in the gene pool and a lack of a good workout do.

Case in point; I play games about 2 hours a day. I work out 3 hours a day. So Mr. Thompson; are you as fit as me? Do you run 6 miles a day, then play racquetball for 2 hours before lifting weights?

Didn't think so.


2. If Gamer Dad wants to get better, and I wished him well in doing so, I suggest he lay off the games and get some real exercise. The photo indicates he needs it, and the doctors will recommend it.

You encourage GamerDad to speak with those associated with the victims. Why is that, Jack? To have them relive the heartbreak? To give them a false hope that ending violent video games will end tragedies like that they had to undergo? Adolf Hitler frequented and was known to admire art and opera. Is this media to blame for his atrocities? Would telling those related to victims of Hitler’s genocide that you will prevent future incidents by banning opera and art be in society’s and the loved one’s best interest? The sociopath is to blame, not the opera, even though it is often based on violent, martial themes.
You should not be offering healthcare advice to GamerDad. Your trolling of the internet and posting on various forums constitutes no more exercise than playing video games. You do not know GamerDad’s exercise regimen, lifestyle, or habits. You should not be so quick to judge. I have held various positions within a hospital and was a pre-med student before deciding on a career in the video game industry. I know from this experience that even the healthiest of individuals can experience serious heart conditions. Please do not forget, too, the various ways that video games have been utilized in medical care (i.e. autism, hand-eye coordination rehabilitation, depression, etc).
Saying that you wish GamerDad well and then to make despairing comments as I have mentioned above is disingenuous at best. I do not believe, however, that your comments should be edited and that you should be banned. Doing so would to limit the free speech which you, yourself, wish to limit in video games. Besides, no one can expose a fool better than the fool himself!
