I'm not sure if this guy is an ECA member or not, but he certainly has gamer rights in mind.

His point is that we really don't know politician's views on videogames and would like to know whether or not his hobby is safe from censorship.

What he's basically saying is 'if You want to find a killer, don't look for guns, don't look for video games, most of America has one or both in their houses.'
Why should we be at all concerned if a gamer has guns in his house? I have weaponry in mine that could be used to kill someone, doesn't mean I'm going to. The first reaction was, I'll admit I was a bit concerned and surprised when I saw this video, but I thought about it for a second and realised that was anti-game conditioning.

I realize this is important, but PLEASE don't let this become a repeat of the last time gamers and YouTube got together on this. If the video is especially compelling, fine. If not, we really don't need to have 50 of these featured, each one with their own article.

I will not be surprised if Faux News grabs this video and, as Fedule said, uses it to represent all gamers.
There's no evidence to suggest they are his guns, they may be his fathers', who knows, I can understand people thinking like Anti-gamers, and trying to anticipate the fallout from the video, but lets not trick ourselves into thinking any 'special' rules apply about what people are allowed to hang on their walls simply because they are a video gamer, otherwise, rather than anticipating, we are actually starting to believe the hype.
Eventually, GP started doing a daily feature of videos uploaded. It worked out quite well. I would not be surprised if he did this again.

Even if they were "real," they wouldn't be assault rifles anyway, as it's illegal for a civilian to own an automatic weapon that wasn't made and registered before 1986. But don't let facts get in the way of the pants-shitting hysteria over the scary looking toys..
And on that not, the question itself is rather silly given that the Family Entertainment Protection Act was never signed into law.
And the latter doesn't exactly include a how-to manual on operating the former.
But there are a few things that disagree with.
1: He mentions that Democrats have tried to introduce legislation to restrict our rights to purchase violent video games. While this is true, what he fails to mention is that the stupidity is absolutely bi-partisan. For every Democratic representative that has tried to "protect our frail and feeble minds" and "save us from these young murder machines" there's a Republican representative who's tried to do the same. Generally, Democrats do it because they want to promote anti-violence, and Republicans do it to reflect their restrictive and linear views of what family values are.
2: The guns in the background are effective to a Republican audience, but as we saw in the reactions of the media and us gamers to the Prez playing games with wounded vets, a simple thing such as his decoration could be used to portray us all as gun-nuts. Regardless of his intentions, people will read into that choice according to their own preconceptions.
3: I understand the "this is my baby" comment... but again, it's one of those things that will mean different things to different political filters. On one hand, it's a sign of our obvious addiction to violence and destruction, on the other hand, its a real life example of how a simple game can become a constitutional lightning-rod.
1: Not entirely true. For every one Republican who has written, sponsored, or signed a piece of anti-game legislation there are about ten Democrats. This could change if enough games with sexual content go mainstream to make it a real "family values" issue for Republicans. But with Hot Coffee out of the way, it's almost exclusively about the violence. The PC, non-violence thing is, of course, very partisan.
2: This hurts us how? If the Republicans think we're all gun-nuts, they will pander to us. Hillary and friends hate us either way. Win/win.
3: The "my baby" thing is an obvious spoof of the token gun-nut question at the Democratic YouTube debate. Anyone who fails to recognize that and proceeds to use it against us is probably beyond hope anyway. ;)
