A newly-launched video game hopes to raise awareness about one of today's hot-button political issues - immigration. The much anticipated ICED (I Can End Deportation) is available as a free download for PC and Mac from international human rights organization Breakthrough. A press release details the game and the purpose behind its creation:
Designed to spark dialogue and create awareness of unfair U.S. immigration policies, ICED... teaches players about current immigration laws on detention and deportation...
Players can choose one of five characters to inhabit and live out the day-to-day life of an immigrant youth. The youth are being chased by immigration officers, while making moral decisions and answering myth and fact questions about current immigration policies...
Breakthrough Executive Director Mallika Dutt described the creation of ICED, which is designed primarily for high school and college students:
It's important to engage young people in social issues... Games for change help people to better relate to an issue because they can put themselves into the shoes of a character experiencing injustice.
Close to two million people have been deported and thousands more affected -- many without just cause -- due to unfair immigration policies. When we let the government deny due process and human rights for some people, we're putting all of our freedoms at risk.
As part of its launch day happening, ICED will be featured on Global Kids Island in Teen Second Life at 8:30 PM EST.

Having a problem with illegal immigrants is fine. Being a racist asshole and using the term spick is NOT. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. It is NOT something to try and justify your racism.
"I’m all for Immigrants wanting a new life here but they got to learn our language and culture B4 becoming citizens it takes awhile but its worth it."
Why should they learn our language if you have not?
Bearing in mind that the US has the strongest economy in the world by far.
I see your reading skills are on par with your writing skills unfortunately. If you read up you will see that I think that 2 million illegal immigrants being deported is a very low number unfortunately. You see I'm against illegal immigration as well, be they from Mexico, Canada or any other country.
Also, there is no call for the racist term you used. Furthermore its against the site's policy. Saying "well I'm frustrated with them" doesn't justify what you said nor make you any less of a racist.
There are those who "agree" with me such as yourselves who are poison to our cause as they discredit our own argument by making those who are against illegal immigration to seem motivated by racism rather than caring about the troubles illegal immigration brings.
If an illegal is so much arrested for littering they should be deported within 24 hours.
Finally your insult against liberalism is funny to me. I loathe illegal immigration and yet, I'm a liberal. Run that through your cranium.
One of the most anti-semitic people I know adores Seinfeld and Gene Simmons. *shrugs*
