Lyndon LaRouche Sees Microsoft Conspiracy in NIU Shooting

February 19, 2008
Miami anti-game violence activist Jack Thompson isn't the only one connecting last week's shooting rampage at NIU to the popular online FPS Counter-Strike.

Fringe political figure Lyndon LaRouche has also linked the game to the NIU tragedy. In a news release bearing the headline International Fascism: Microsoft Will Kill More Youth than Hitler, LaRouche's political action committee writes:
Another young killer, Stephen Kazmierczak, who killed five people and wounded 16 others at Northern Illinois University, was allegedly addicted to Microsoft's Counterstrike killer video-game. "He played a lot of video games, especially Counter-Strike, really loud," said one of his dorm mates...

The intended effect, to foster an environment of mass suicide terrorism in the U.S.A., is a by-product of the 'Revolution in Military Affairs' policy... organized by [financier] Felix Rohatyn and [former Secretary of State] George P. Shultz; the same individuals... are the prime backers of a fascist [NYC Mayor Michael] Bloomberg Presidency.

Another "young" killer? So they purposefully left out his age...

AHAHAHAHAHAHA

@Mike

He was discharged because of his mental illness, right? If he killed 5 and wounded 15, obviously his "training" in the army didn't do jack.

It does not matter if LaRouche wants to go to NIU or not, his followers always show up in DeKalb every few weeks to harass and misinform.

What....the....fuck? So does having run a popular CS server make me a contributor to the mass brainwashing conspiracy or what? I've always wanted to be a part of something like that.

LaRouche would cream his pants if he sees this:

@ jdecamp

It's sort of ironic that all these brainwashing cults like the LaRouchites do naught but warn that every OTHER sentient being on the face of the earth is attempting to do the brainwashing...

Wow, for a moment there I thought I was actually reading a Thompson quote. I had to do a double take on the story header.

ps- I always love that LaRouche photo. Priceless.

.....Oh yeah and LaRouche is a total nutball.....

"Microsoft’s Counterstrike killer video-game"...lmao more like Valves killer videogame...geeze at least get the facts right LaRouche

Well wholey crap. Godwin's Law was enacted BEFORE the comments EVEN BEGAN!

Nice work there, Lyndon.

The picture for this article was most appropriate. That's all that really needs to be said.

Godwin'ed before the discussion even started.

@bildo:
If Lerouche got his facts right, then he wouldn't be blaming video games in the first place.

Can I just say WTFROFLBBQBURGERCOPTER?

What asylum did this guy escape from?

Arkham Asylum?

Funny. According yo my VG history, Counter Strike was NOT developed by Microsoft and the US military DID NOT drop a single cent into it's production. It was made as an addon for Half Life by a couple college guys and Valve was so impressed they wanted to add it.

If I ever go to a video convention and cosplay is going on, I'm going as the tin hat man. LaRouche is one crazy monkey.

Interesting how LaRouche rhymes with douche...

The nutjobs and Thompson always harp on people "training their skillz" on games like Counter-Strike. To put it bluntly, shooting unarmed people at point blank range is EASY. Its not something that needs training. These shooters aren't tapping into some esoteric skill, they are using basic manual dexterity.

Is it really news that LaRouche sees a conspiracy in something?

man what a tool.

[...] International Fascism: Microsoft Will Kill More Youth than Hitler [LaRouche Website via Game Politics] [...]

Ok I take that back, these are the kinds of nuts who really believe in bad scifi movies involving computers/the internet/VR/etc being completely real.

And the only part they really added to that was that last kooky bit GP pointed out.

Seeing that picture means I can't take him seriously.

The number of dingbats, crackpots and nincompoops in America is amazing. Freedom of speech has its price. Kind of pity you guys at the same time.

lol :)

What an idiot. Has already been said, but it probably is better that he takes on MS since their lawyers will take him to town :)

COUNTERSTRIKE WAS PUBLISHED BY VALVe DIPWAD!

Code Cheapass: LaRouche of the Rebellion?

I honestly don't think it has anything to do with games. I think he wants to take an attempted cheap shot at Microsoft.

Imagine what people would be saying about this on 4chan's /v/ imageboard. LOL.

@gs68: OH, GOOD BUM GRAVY, oY! You made a reference to Code Geass, oy! I find that anime to be Sunrise at their best. Plus a little CLAMP for polish. I can't wait for it to come to Adult Swim so moar people can see how awesome it is; Then, the more people who see it, the more people will get into anime, thus affecting their taste for favoring superior and sophisticated entertainment! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I ask ONCE AGAIN: why are you giving this nutbag LaRouche free press?

He doesn't even have the media profile of Jack Thompson. He is the very picture of irrelevance itself. In fact, his only notable trait is being complete poison to every cause and organization he endorses.

Seriously. In his case, he really DOES go away when ignored.

Hahahahahahaha....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAH...

Wait... He's serious... Amazing. People never cease to amaze me. Please note that this is not a good thing.

After reading more on this guy, umm I can safely assume this guy wheres more than tin hates.

Love his hat. It totally adds to his credibility.

How is Counter Strike at all associated with Microsoft? Because it's played on computers?

I suppose this means Nvidia, AMD, and Intel are all to blame as counter strike is played on a microsoft software, and their hardware. Thus, by proxy, anything that uses computers is to blame. Computers are used at hopsitals.

Essentially, hospitals are worse than hitler.

Nice logic.

This made me laugh. One of THE most pathetic attempts at game conspiracies I have EVER read. Wow. Microsoft didn't even MAKE CS...god....

WOW! Talking about pulling stuff from your arse! A simple check as to who made CS would have been nice. This guy obviously has a hang up about MS, saw this one guy played CS (as did/does how many millions of people?) and tried to connect two dots.

As long as idiots like these are spouting trash, you know there are going to be a few people to believe them. THATS the scary part.

“He played a lot of video games, especially Counter-Strike, really loud,” said one of his dorm mates…

What the hell is wrong with that dorm mate? Is he the biggest moron in the world, or was he just looking for some payback because of the "really loud" gaming he had to endure?
I heard this dope get interviewed on MSNBC. It's funny, the anchor who interviewed him was done with him after he mentioned Counter-Strike.
I guess she got her violent video game angle (didn't challenge it) and decided to move on.
Damn, "journalism" is sad these days.

How I see it, there are morons out there that are not willing to accept that usually the causes might be something else besides video gaming (i.e. bad parenting, mental illness, childhood trauma). People are just looking for a scapegoat to pin the blame onto. Scapegoating is just another method to try and avoid the blame themselves. How I see it, it would be best to BE AN ADULT, STOP MAKING BLAND, POINTLESS EXCUSES, AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE THINGS!!!
