Judge Dava Tunis (left), who presided over the November, 2007 Florida Bar trial of anti-game activist Jack Thompson, has petitioned the Florida Supreme Court for more time in which to issue her decision. While GamePolitics had been anticipating Tunis' final ruling on Thompson's fate by April 21st, an April 11th Florida Supreme Court docket entry notes the request for a time extension by Judge Tunis.
No additional details appear in the docket entry and it is unclear what is behind Judge Tunis' request. However, in addition to nearly two weeks of testimony, there is a large volume of printed material to be reviewed, especially given Thompson's well-known penchant for sending e-mails, faxes and the like.
Judge Tunis herself has been under attack from Thompson in recent times (then again, who hasn't?). In a claim reminiscent of Catch-22's Great Loyalty Oath Crusade, Thompson alleges that a written loyalty oath required under Florida law was not properly executed by Tunis.

She may be making sure there's no loopholes he can exploit.
For crying out loud Thompson, do you even know what "extradition" means?

Take your time, Judge.
That's all right, Dava. We can wait longer for Thompson's end. Gives him more time to entertain us.
Now I have to re-print the invitations :(
This extension can't possibly be seen as a good thing for Thompson can it? (Although I'm sure he'll say that it is).
Anything is possible.
@OneMan'sOpinion
Want some help with that?
With any luck he'll threaten T2 and break is agreement with them and get in even more trouble.
Evil...
Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he did. Though, to be honest, he does seem kinda obsessed with R* and T2.
I mean, hell, why hasn't he gone after Bungie for the Halo Trilogy or hell, Nintendo/Retro for the Metroid Prime games? They're 1st-person shooters, violence everywhere! ;)
My point is... I'm surprised he didn't bash Bungie when his kid was allowed to buy Halo 3 without his ID being shown. I may despise him, but I swear, he has other targets than just R* and T2.
Wouldn't be evil, IMO.
Doing it to spike his B.P. would exact her own vengeance for having to put up with him and his antics in the trial.
(sorry for double post)
John Bruce has already stated that he can't run an unbias campaign nor could he operate as an honorable, ethical, unbiased judge.
His campaigns and attitudes against homosexuality, his campaigns and attitudes regarding how he feels ONLY HE can decide what is or is not appropriate for other Parent's children, as well as his admitted religious bias (as seen numerous times, even in his court actions), show that if he took any such oath, it would be a lie. He would be incapable of being unbiased and would be incapable of treating any plaintiff or defendant that he had a personal, religious, and/or political difference of opinion with in a fair, honorable, and/or ethical manner.
So I find it laughable that he condemns others for allegedly not doing somehting that he couldn't abide truthfully doing himself.

It will make his fall even greater with less chance of him ever recovering.
The evidence presented during the trail in court wasn't enough to disbar him outright. She has to read stuff for months and months and still needs more time. Wow she and the Florida Bar are tolerant. After the first word out of his mouth during his disbarment I would have said "Shut it up you! You're a knob, YOUUUU'RREE FIRED!"
granted thats for jury trials, but i could see Jack trying to push it for this as well
Microsoft, yes, but not BUNGIE.
Very true. It's quite hypocritical to whine and complain about unfair persecution and judgments against him (even though it's all a result of his own bad behavior and failure to correctly do his job) when he can not possibly manage holding an unbiased court should he be judge. His fanaticism will never let him see how he is actually the thing he complains against and that his complaints are hollow and wrong against whoever he's got in his sights at the time, but eventually there will come a day where everything comes back to haunt him till he realizes all the wrong he's done. At least we can hope he learns his lesson some day.
Be sure to remember my name! Ill bring the drinks XD
Jack doesn't want this, he's been demanding that the bar release their ruling right away for awhile now.
Just throwin that out there.
Honestly, losing his ability to practice law is the best thing that can happen for gamers everywhere. No more slandering, no more parading as a 'school shooting' expert.
a lot of gay porn to shift through....
So who thinks that jack will go gun-totting crazy when he finally snaps? The universe seems to enjoy irony of that sort. I'm imagining a public on-air breakdown akin to the one in GTA Vice City by Pastor Richards. That would be quality entertainment (except for the poor guy who gets shot but if he's like the nudist in VCPR, it won't be any great loss)
Then of course she's got to write out her decision, which in and of itself would take a while.
So I suppose it isn't too surprising that she's asking for an extention.
@Shadow Darkman
While a technicality, at the time when he went after Microsoft for CS Bungie was Microsoft. You go after the parent company/publisher, granted they Bungie had nothing to do with CS. I seem to remember he made some kind of lame ass attempt to block Halo 3, or at least threatened to and bitched about it.
He said he was going ot file a motion ot have it blocked, less than a week before release.
Either he knew it'd fail and just wanted to get under people's skin or his self importance is so hideously bloated that he thought they'd rush it
Oh wait, if he wasn't being a prick trying for the mandatory delay he'd file his case well before its release. He'd also have a chance of winning a case too, but we can see his recent track record proves he's incapable of that.
And more time Tunis takes to read throughly all this junk means that Thompson can't complain that she was biased or made hasty decision (like a certain judge I heard in a case).
Patience, then. Patience.
the judge is making sure that when thompson attempts to appeal that it will be shot down by any and every court.
This is worst than a Law and Order SVU episode when the rapist gets free.
YOU'RE ON THIN ICE JACKIE BOY
