Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

June 12, 2008

This must be the day for apparel items which mash up Nintendo themes with November's presidential election.

Earlier today we mentioned the Mario-Luigi '08 T-shirt.

A few moments ago we stumbled upon this Obama 1up for America hat. It's offered at Leftique, which describes itself as "The boutique for Democrats."

GP: FYI, we have no affiliate relationship with either of these products.

Ooooo...don't believe that I went there...

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

I don't think Snake is the type to support McCaine. He hates war, nuclear weapons, and crooked politicians. McCaine is all three! A Snake Item would have the saying, "humanity, political, action" with the foxhound logo behind it and a Snake sillouhette.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Um, McCain actually has one of the best records AGAINST political corruption.  In fact, current campaign finance reform laws have his name on them.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHhahahahahalkdshfa;ldshfahdsfoadsnvands;oiaf......

Oh my... that was amusing.

Yes, McCain has done so much to rein in corrupt politicians.

Ooh... but he helped author a campaign finance reform bill! And it was so effective, that we still only have multi-millionaires running for president!

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Still better than Obama, who comes form the Chicago political machine which allows dead people to vote.  Watch Obama on the floor sometime, his role is as Richard Durbin's junior senator, rather than actually representing the people of Illinois.  In fact, the reason he got into the Senate in the first place is because the Republican candidate was the victim of a scandal sensatiionalized by the media, thus he had to back out and the incompetant Illinois political machine brought in Alan Keyes from Maryland to run against Obama.

Besides, your argument just outed your candidate as the type of person he'd keep from running, ergo your candidate shouldn't be running.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Obama was a community organizer who worked his way up from the ground. McCain is the son of the military elite. All of Obama's millions come from book sales. Not his faults he's a good author. McCain's millions come from his beer heiress wife. McCain has sold out on his few decent policies to secure the republician base. Obama has been conistent on most issues. I know who I'm voting for.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Mrs. McCain isn't an heiress, she just knows how to invest.  Nothing wrong with that.  And how is being the son of military elite bad?  His father was commander, US Pacific Fleet, and McCain himself wears the third highest honor in the US military (Silver Star).  You don't get those for talking to Pentagon Chairborne Rangers.  And the reason Obama looks consistent is because he has little voting record to go off of.  And besides, community organizer in Chicago does NOT scream values.  Just search this site's archives for "Rod Blagojevich," the Governor of Illinois who came from the same political machine as Obama, and tell me Obama has anti-corruption credentials.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

''tell me Obama has anti-corruption credentials.''

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Funding_Accountability_and_Transpar...

He has anti corruption credentials.

''Mrs. McCain isn't an heiress, she just knows how to invest.''

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cindy_Hensley_McCain

She may know how to invest, but she is a heiress.

As to obama's voting record, well he doesn't have as large as a voting record as McCain, it is very impressive for a junior senator. And at least his votes have been consistent with his stated position on the issue at hand, something McCain can't claim. I used to respect McCain for going against the republican party line on some issues (e.g. torture), but since then he has reversed his postion on those issues to appease the GOP base (again torture.). As to a political machine producing Obama, Well, if the Developing Communities project, is part of a political machine, than it's not a very  efficient one, as it seems to spend a lot of time building houses and not a lot raising money.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

First off, any junior high English teacher will tell you Wikipedia is NOT a good source.  I checked out the Obama and McCain articles, and they both looked as though they were written both respective supprters.  Also, reading the article you sent, I read a couple names down from Obama and *gasp* Senator John McCain!!!  And yet Obama has better credentials than someone with his name on a reform bill?

And okay, so Cindy's an heirhess.  As far as I can tell, she actually runs the business and doesn't just carry chihuhuas around in her $1000 purse.

And the developing Communites project isn't the only thing Obama's done for his entire adult life.  His first election was won by contesting the validity of his Democratic opponents rather than actually running against them (his Republican opponent was mostly a token, his district is mostly african-american).  You don't win anything in Chicago without the machine's say-so.

---------------------------------

So speak I, some random guy.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

I never said that McCain wasn't anti- corruption,(supposedly), I was saying that Obama was anti corruption. Also, he had a larger role in the bill than McCain, it's original name was the Coburn - Obama transparency act. And Cindy McCain doesen't ''run the business" a board of directors does that for her. She seems to spend her tim organizing charities (admirable) and abusing prescription drugs ( not so admirable).

''You don't win anything in Chicago without the machine's say-so.'' Oh, BS. There is some corruption, but no more than any large city. And McCain didn;t enter politics on his own hard work either. He used his father in laws business connections to get in.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Pffft... that's what you've got for "anti-corruption credentials?"

Let's see... it was co-written by McCain, passed unanimously by the senate, and signed into law by Bush. 1, 2, 3 red flags. I'll take the bet that it won't do shit to stop corruption.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Leave it to a partisan hack to think that just because someone thinks McCain is a tool, that means Obama must be "my candidate." Check out my "If Obama 'hates war' so much..." post. He's just another elitist tool in a different wrapper.

Hack.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

If empty-rhetoric Obama "hates war" so much, he should start by ditching his foreign policy advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski. A neo-liberal asshole out for world domination is worse than a neo-conservative asshole out for world domination, if only because it makes all the "liberals" think he's really okay.

If Obama's so much against war and nuclear weapons, maybe he should be doing more to condemn Israel, instead of licking their balls at the recent AIPAC convention.

If Obama's so much against crooked politicians, let's see him do something to actually expose a few (and not some "Bush is crooked" crap. Ooh! Edgy!).

Yay! Let's hear it for HOPE! (as in "I hope all these Obama lovers pull their heads out of their asses and realize he's just another hot-air establishment politician, with a fresh and friendly face, that isn't really going to fix anything.")

"Poison mushroom" is right. You think it's okay when you eat it, but you'll just shit when you realize what it's done to you.

In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—

(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;
(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.

Lets see... criticism..... nope, comment.......eh maybe, news reporting....nope, teaching..... nope, scholarship..... nope, or research.....nada.

Im leaning more towards.. not fair use, and I'm not really even sure that its a parody.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Why do so many people here act so hostile when it comes to politics? As an outsider looking in, I support Obama but I don't feel that it is right that people who support him are mocked. (I'm looking at you anonymous) I feel the same about every other candidate and their supporters. I am just tired of hearing "Cult!" and "Bush's 3rd term!" on every election based thread that I read. Honestly this place is  beginning to turn into Fark.

Just talk about the shirt and go to a election thread or something to discuss issues, or insult one another. Whichever you prefer.

Comments are for opinions I know, thats why I stated mine.

P.S. I like the shirt, because I like nintendo and Obama. *readies shield and casts devotion aura*

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Per my sig other:

my entire political decision is about to be entirely shifted based on my levels of stabbity rage.

SCENE: me & the boy sitting in the living room. he is playing mass effect, i am RAWKING at lumines on the psp. it’s a saturday morning.

DOOR BUZZER SCREECHES

the boy & i are confused, thus he gets up to the buzzer and inquires as to who the fuck it is. they ask for me. i am neither a.) expecting anything nor b.) wearing clothes. i am, however, curled up in my extra-spiffy sock monkey pajamas and thus whomever is at the door can proceed to suck it dry. furthermore, i’m not in the mood.

the boy goes downstairs — because he’s a good boy — and sees who it is. i am only disappointed he took no garbage (for flinging) or weapons (for stabbing). but, i has the bloodlust and him, not so much. upon his return the mystery guest is revealed: campaigning douchebag for barack obama.

OH HELL NO!

immediately, a number of things infuriate me:

  1. it’s saturday fucking morning and what the hell are they doing at my building?
  2. how in god’s name do these political fuckbags know my name? i’m not registered for either shitty-ass party and i hate, loathe and despise all the retarded candidates!
  3. how in the fuck did they get my name?!

STABBITY STABBITY STABBITY!!!

and of course, the boy sent them packing. but fuck that noise…i will put on clothes when i fucking feel like it and no glad-handing political fuckbag is going to tell me otherwise. also: suck it dry, bitches.

god, i hate election years. i hate the candidates, i hate the campaigns, i hate the campaigners, i hate this all almost as much as i hate g. w. bush. and hell, i’m completely and totally not affiliated with either fuckbag party so they should just leave me the hell alone. i’ve already had enough of my life invaded by this bullshit.

ugh!

and i’m sorry (that’s a lie), but I WILL PUT ON MY PANTS FOR NO CANDIDATE! fuck you, campaign douche, fuck you barack obama.

i mean, i was already highly leery of mr. obama’s stances; only slightly leaning to him since i completely disagree with everything hillary stands for, represents and believes. also, she’s a scary ass hobag.

but this…

if the choice boils down to hillary vs. obama compared to some republican fuckbag…i’m going to abstain. or write in something. because i cannot believe what a letdown the democratic system has been in the last 8 years.

i remain still, ashamed to be american.

And so in short, I walked down to deal with a bunch of dumb-ass campaigners, in an apartment that clearly says "NO SOLICITATIONS!" So really... I'm gonna make fun of obama supports all I want :p

Awesome, nice to hear Obama's ground game is chugging along.  It may annoy people who don't care about politics, but this is the kind of action that can in the long run turn out voters on Election Day.

Think I'll start volunteering myself in a week or two...

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Or piss me off to the extent where I'm going to vote for his opponent. Asshat. I don't need someone tell me what my political views should be.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Kind of funny considering how he belittles games and gamers so frequently.

Still pretty cool that game culture and political culture continue to merge in various aspects.

Obama and McCain won't do anything to stop corruption because they are part of it.  Hate to say it but they are establishment candidates.  Their foreign policies are worthless and they don't really enjoy addressing and monetary policies.

Sadly I think a vote for Colbert is more worthwhile than a vote for Obama or McCain.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

I strongly believe a vote for Obama and McCain are both equallty dangerous.

A vote for a fake candidate, a vote for someone that isn't running is much better.

I think it would best serve the country if everyone considered Constitution, Libertarian, and Green party candidates.  Also Independents.  Those 4 options will all provide you with better choices and will have a greater benefit for the country.

Some say that it will be a waste of a vote but I say its the only way NOT to waste a vote.

Some also like to mention people like Ralph Nader is a spoiler.  I disagree.  Saying that is automatically assuming those people were going to vote Democrat in the first place (Which they most likely weren't).  Needless to say none of these wasted votes and spoiler theories hold any water what-so-ever.

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Jesus, arguing over who your favorite candidate is as usefull as shooting yourself in the foot.

America is great cause we can agree to disagree.

Neither one of them is as clean as a whistle, but they are some of the cleanest candidates we have had in years. (since Carter and Regan.)

No matter who wins, America will be better off than with that imcompetent retard that is in the White House right now.

Oh, and as for the guy who says 3rd parties are better: they aren't any better. Ralph Nader is running cause he is power hungry, but not capabile of getting the nomination for the Democrats. They want the presidency, but without actually campainging.

ANYONE who runs for the most powerful political position on the planet has to be corrupt. (except for Colbert, but he wasn't serious, sorry)

Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat
Re: Obama Mushroom Power-up Hat

Nintendo is indeed selling SOME of these on the Virtual Console but not even close to all of them. While i agree in part to his piracy he was filling a market that Nintendo failed to recognize. Maybe someone doesnt want to buy a Wii. maybe they just want a console with 50 - 100 NES games on them?? maybe just maybe?

but no Nintendo wants everyone araba kiralama to buy the Wii. thats their excuse but thats not what copyright is supposed to protect. i am real sure that the makers of 10 yard fight were losing sleep because they were missing out on their $0.00025 worth because they didnt get royalties from this player. *smirk*

my question is, should Super Mario Bros. be banned from public domain forever? isnt 23 years enough time for Nintendo to have made their profits?

If you have followed the Steamboat Willie case regarding Mickey Mouse you can rest in your bed well at night knowing that the MOUSE will still be under copyright law, away from public domain after your great grandchildren are in nursing homes. That is beyond ridiculous dont you think??

Gallagher can araç kiralama say all he wants, but I strongly rent a car believe it's due to his crappy leadership and E3 being a joke. ESA's Board of Directors need to find a way to get out rent a car of this horrid contract with this Bush cronie before there's no one left on the Board.

Btw, I think Atari and Midway will drop out too, but mostly travesti because  these guys have done nothing ttnet vitamin or little and need to start saving costs.

YES.

Now I don't have to get off my ass for the important shit anymore!

Whats next, ordering pizza from Xbox live?

Wait... I think that sounds like a good idea.

But I think voting should MAKE you get off your ass, and see outside or a second while you go vote. I mean, your picking the president of the United States of America for God's Sake... least you can do is drive down there and punch out a card.
