Well, it appears Thopmson's interview was comedic than I anticipated. Still a crepy guy, though.
This was filmed at the Plan & Trade less than a mile from my house.
Too bad I wasn't there the day of filming.
Don't know why this was deleted before...
I just would like to see all of the footage of the interview...I think it would shed more light onto the reason why he decided to do this.
Also, I would like to know if there were any stipulations of him doing this interview...likt if he had to do those skits...

Some of the stuff was funny...like when he grabbed that GTA4 from that kid..."How old are you? 24. Give me that!" Funny stuff. And when he grabbed that N64 controller from that guy and cursed at him, then started to play Zelda...Hilarious!

It doesn't so much bother me, in and of itself, that Jack can be charming on occasion. Lots of insane and truly dangerous people can do that. What leaves me absolutely flummoxed is that Jack has no idea when to do this. So from time to time he makes himself seem likeable to his sworn enemies that he's threatened countless times, but never once in court to SAVE HIS OWN ASS?

Great trolls are the ones who skirt the boundried of acceptable and infuriaate a community, but don't quite do anything bad enough to get thrown out.
Okay, I really don't like the man, but I got to give JT props here for doing this. This actually made me laugh and I got to give him credit for willing to make fun of himself at least a little.

You know what? I think some microscopic sliver of respect just popped back into life the moment I watched that video. I still hate JT's guts, but that was pretty funny. At the same time though, you know his career's reached an all time low when he has to get money doing comedy skits for the people he hates most.

Jack has threatened the people here multiple times. Including trying to sick the secret service on us as well as trying to threaten us with litigation for not giving him our home addresses. And we could only begin to fathom the harassment he puts Dennis through. So no, Jack gets no breaks.
You'd figured if he was aware that he was doing a comedic parody of himself, and known of the crap he put everyone through as he went along this sketch (or is it?), that he may be an undecover agent of the video game community.

Jack's deadpan delivery made that seem utterly surreal (rather than just bizarre).
I enjoyed parts of it, though I think bits of it could have been scripted better as well. I'm more curious, like many others (I surmise), as to why Jack bothered with doing this. Maybe he'll even deign to tell us. From Jack's perspective, was this a PR coup, was it just for chuckles, was there some other reason entirely?

I actually think he wouldn't do half bad. I hate his way of doing things , but he was pretty funny.
Think you guys who are claiming it's funny are being a tad generous. Amusing maybe. Personally, I thought it never topped when he gave the kid a copy of his book. (that was amusing). I guess, for me though, the humor strains a little bit when he threatens to run us down and kill us. It isn't that it's not obvious it's a joke - it's just that, well... What do you suppose Jack would've done if the tables had been turned? Imagine it was any of us on the video and we jokingly threatened to kill him. How do you suppose he would've reacted. If my memory serves me he's had, or tried to have, multiple people arrested for the same thing. What's the difference? Because it's the Jace Hall show? So if any of us had ended up on a national show and then threatened him, he would've thought that was OK?
The hypocrisy kills much of the potential humor for me. Plus, I got the sense that Jack didn't get the humor; that he was just reading his lines. By contrast, I saw a Colbert report the other day where he was taking a poke at Ben and Jerry and Elton John, and you could tell; Stephen couldn't keep a straight face through the whole joke. That was funny.
I do have to agree with you there. I had a mild chuckle here and there, but for the most part was just meh. Deadpanning jokes is not bad. However Jack just felt like cardboard in it.
Besides it was not funny years ago when those jokes were actual threats he leveled at us and threatened us with lawsuits...
I only thought the fact that he took the kids $50 was pretty funny - it cracked a smile on my face.

I agree. This one show segment doesn't change the past, which is stacked highly against Thompson.
Ok him being funny in this doesn't change the fact that he's been unreasonable and damaging to individuals before. Likewise his previous conduct, no matter how appalling, doesn't change the fact that he's funny here.
That said I think the scene was scripted for him and I doubt he improvised much if anything. This is a mile ahead of the usual Yoo got no brainz type of stuff he usually posts here.
Maybe they should do a follow-up where Jack gives a free pass to a parent who abuses their kid but won't let them play video games and then heckles a gamer's funeral.

Now that is the TRUTH. I know I am always mentioning his hypocrisy, but another good example would be his lame attempt at satire with "A modest video game proposal."
Here he has a game all about killing people in the game industry, including Take Two CEOs(which there is no real attempt to disguise their names). Yet this is a guy who would consider such a death threat, like that one buddy icon and that one incident where someone asked him what games he should train with.
Another example of him not taking a joke, the way he handled his receiving of some sexual lubricant or related medical cream which was obviously a roundabout way of calling him for what he is...
I don't see how people can laugh at someone who can spew such garbage at others as a "joke," yet they scream, threaten lawsuits, etc when they are the butt of one! Even more so when they have seriously said similar things in the past...

This reminds me of the Eva Braun home videos that showed Hitler smiliing. It humanizes him a bit but you still have to remember what a prick he is.

I'll admit, I got a chuckle out of the part when Jack ripped the controller out of the guy's hands, but it stopped there. Maybe his lines were scripted. Maybe they weren't. But I don't doubt he meant every word he said, whether or not it was intended to be funny. If he smiled when he said those things, then I might feel differently. Jack has proved he has a self-deprecating - if somewhat underdeveloped - sense of humor. But it was more in evidence when I saw him in the debate with Lorne Lanning at the VGXpo. Here, I thought, he seemed too damn sincere.
At the end of the day, he is still an arrogant, hateful, bigoted man. When the segment was over, all I could do was snort and say, "Douchebag."

You gotta admit, Jack is a great actor, both on screen and on the court.

In all honesty it was a bit uncomfortable watching Jack. Made me wonder how much of the stuff said he actually believes and what parts were scripted. And why he would even do this except for the attention.
Sure, he made the right comments, and he does it with a straight face. But what scares me, and probably is the reason others also feel uncomfortable, is that he said similar stuff, only a bit less extreme, with a straight face as well. And was serious.
If it had been anyone else, or if I hadn't read so many things about Jack, I'd find it quite amusing. The jokes were good at times. But it's Jack, and there's 169 pages that make clear the face behind the mask. And that's why I just can't enjoy this parody.

I'm going to agree with several above that this was not funny. Amusing, perhaps. But not funny. I think it's pretty safe to say that Jace Hall and Jack Thompson won't be on Saturday Night Live any time soon (although, that show is also not funny at this point).
And as far as giving Jack a break...nope. Not going to happen. O.J. Simpson was hilarious in those Naked Gun movies, and he went on to kill two people. Should we give him a break?

Honestly, I've been of the opinion that Jack has been deliberately playing his whole career for laughs for a long time.
He's the world's premiere troll.
I was just surprised to see him do something which is so overtly comedic. Normally he just pulls stunts which verge on crossing the line (or, more likely, vault clear over it) to maintain his profile while ensuring that no one with any sense will ever take him seriously. If anyone did take him seriously he'd swiftly shoot himself in the foot somehow (as we saw not long ago with his bridgeburning when a law he'd penned was close to passing). It's a testament to his skill that he's only threatened with disbarment now, after so many decades of utter nonsense.
That's just what I think, of course. I've never dealt with him directly, so I can't really speak with the same kind of authority as Dennis (though I can argue my greater objectivity, but even I'm not convinced by that).
Despite this just now we all know that he's still going to be a homeless old man and we would lol and hate him for taking our freedom of choice away.
I'm really confused now. If that was scripted, which it blatantly was, why did Jackass do it? Was it to make the gaming community want to lynch him less? If so, we can add naivety to his rap sheet.

Jack, if you're reading this, you might have a better chance at reaching the gaming community if you're willing to engage us on a more regular basis without being patronizing and confrontational. Obviously there's not a 100% consensus on this, but a surprising number of people here reacted positively.
