Louisiana Had to Sweeten Pot to Win EA Facility

August 22, 2008 -

Earlier this week GamePolitics reported on Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's announcement that EA Sports would establish a game testing center on the LSU campus.

Today's edition of The Advocate reports that state officials had to sweeten EA's deal to the tune of $750,000 due to last minute competition from another (unnamed) state:

Of the EA deal, Stephen Moret (left), secretary of Louisiana's Department of Economic Development, said:

This is really, really big. This company, without question, is at the very top of the list. EA’s decision to come here would be comparable in the film industry to Pixar or The Walt Disney Company coming to build a studio in Louisiana.

GP: We wonder if the competing state may have been Texas. As GamePolitics previously reported, Texas. Gov. Rick Perry met with EA at E3 in Los Angeles.

Don't forget that the ESA represent the member companies and their policies, so if these are sticking point issues with you, travesti blame and fight the companies themselves. travesti i am.

Re: Louisiana Had to Sweeten Pot to Win EA Facility

Thanks good job;

Btw, I think Atari and Midway will drop out too, but mostly travesti because  these guys have done nothing travesti or little and need to start saving costs. and dizi izle

YES.

Now I don't have to get off my ass for the important shit anymore!

Whats next, ordering pizza from Xbox live?

Wait... I think that sounds like a good idea.

But I think voting should MAKE you get off your ass, and see outside or a second while you go vote. I mean, your picking the president of the United States of America for God's Sake... least you can do is drive down there and punch out a card.

Re: Louisiana Had to Sweeten Pot to Win EA Facility

I'm all for freedom of ttnet vitamin speech and allowing rent a car game makers to put whatever they want in games, but there's one thing about this app that has me scratching my head.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but from araç kiralama the previous article araba kiralama on this I gathered that players can use Google maps in-game to find the other (real-life?) dealers in their area.  If this is the case, has travesti anyone considered what's stopping someone from using this app to actually move drugs between hands for reals?

But majority araba kiralama of their outrage araç kiralama stems from what it could DO TO children, not the content itself.  Talk to one of these people and you'll find they don't think any books kiralık araba should be banned from children.  Mention American Psycho and they talk about kiralık araç the redeeming value of using imagination to construct a story.  Reading, no matter what the content, is largely viewed as a consequenceless activity for people of any age.  The reason why I mention American Psycho is because of the content itself.  Gaming never has and likely never will have any scenes where someone has sex with a severed head.  Not gonna happen.  Yet despite this, they'll fight tooth and nail to protect their children from two boys kissing in Bully but whatever they read is harmless... yeah.

The entire arguement is kiralık oto based upon a social normality inflicted by luddites who can't figure out the controls for Halo so it's frightening and terrifying and obviously the cause of youth violence on the rise even though, in reality, it's in decline (which is actually a HUGE suprise given minibüs kiralama the economies status).  In  a perfect world, we would have parents that actually parent.  The idea of sales restrictions on media on oto kiralama any form to accomidate parental unwillingness to get involved with their child's life is the real problem to me.  Here I am, 32 years old, and being held up at a self-scan rent a car needing to show ID before I can buy a $10 M rated game all because Soccer Momthra can't be bothered to look at the crap Billy Genericallystupidson does in his free time.  It's too hard for her, so I have to suffer?

Re: Louisiana Had to Sweeten Pot to Win EA Facility

Electronic Arts is partnering with Louisiana State University and the Louisiana Department of Economic Development to create a global quality assurance testing center in Baton Rouge, primarily to test EA Sports titles.
The new establishment enjoys the support of Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who calls it "a terrific win for the city and the future of our state," noting innovation in the state's economic development initiatives.

Governor Jindal says the testing center will create 20 full-time jobs, and more than 200 part-time jobs for LSU students. "I know this will be a dream job for some kids, but it is also a key part of strengthening our state's economic development so we become the best place in the world to do business, and all of our children can stay right here at home to pursue their dreams," says the Governor.

awesome. im from louisiana, and they really need strong industries to invest in the state. before katrina, new orleans was a popular place to shoot movies, so hopefully this will help bring back some of that commerce.

Re: Louisiana Had to Sweeten Pot to Win EA Facility

Interesting. In any case, as long as the economic gain to the state is greater than the incentives it took to get them there, I'd say it's all good.

MechaCrashComics never change because the people in charge now read comics when they were kids, and keep reverting comics to what they remember. As long as that cycle holds, change will be slow at best.10/30/2014 - 8:18am

Andrew EisenOne reason is because the money people are often afraid it won't sell. "A new IP AND the protagonist is gay?! That'll never work!" Showing that diverse characters can work in popular IP is simply a place to start. The indie scene is another.10/29/2014 - 8:47pm
