"Britain's Got Crabs" Game Highlights American Crayfish Invasion

Earlier this year the BBC reported that the introduction of the highly aggressive American signal crayfish had essentially killed sport fishing in Scotland's Loch Ken.

With the region's traditional fishing tourism in steep decline, the economic health of towns around the Loch is in jeopardy.

By way of publicizing the crisis T-Enterprise has created Britain's Got Crabs, a Flash game which challenges "British Beavers" to shoot waves of the crayfish. It's not much of a game, but it does help to raise awareness of the ecologic crisis in the Loch.

/agree about the game.

As for the crawfish, it sounds like a business opportunity to me. I wonder if I can get my wife to move there? I could set traps around the lake and open the first truly authentic Cajun pub with nothing but crawfish recipes on the menu. Seriously, we have enough ways of cooking crawfish here in Louisiana to fill a whole menu, and nothing goes better with boiled crawfish than a good pint. It would bring back the tourists, and could save the fishing.

Try holding down space while tapping the turn key on and off; even more effective.

Plus, if you just hold down the turn key and press space as rapid is possible, the flak wall of death you create is rather effective.

Yeah, this is pretty lame. I think that for a game to be good at sending its message, it has to at least be good enough that you'd send it on to someone else. Plus - all jokes about beavers and crabs aside - the content of the game should have something to do with real life. At least with the ICE game they described realistic scenarios related to deportation.

I really can't stand games that are made to raise awareness. What I got out of this game was, "Don't give a beaver a gun and turn him loose on your water supply." I certainly didn't learn anything about Britain's crayfish problem. This goes for those "Iraqis aren't the bad guys, either!" games, or that I.C.E. game, too.
