Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been Around for a Long Time

September 1, 2008 -

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition... least of all in game format.

But Vintage.VideoSift located the bizarre game at Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The estimated date of manufacture is 1920-1930.

With tongue firmly in cheek, Vintage.VideoSift notes:

This game was the root cause of all the societal violence of its time.

And may we add:

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency....

Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope....

Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again...

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

Thanks good job;

Btw, I think Atari and Midway will drop out too, but mostly travesti because  these guys have done nothing travesti or little and need to start saving costs. and dizi izle

YES.

Now I don't have to get off my ass for the important shit anymore!

Whats next, ordering pizza from Xbox live?

Wait... I think that sounds like a good idea.

But I think voting should MAKE you get off your ass, and see outside or a second while you go vote. I mean, your picking the president of the United States of America for God's Sake... least you can do is drive down there and punch out a card.

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

I'm all for freedom of ttnet vitamin speech and allowing rent a car game makers to put whatever they want in games, but there's one thing about this app that has me scratching my head.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but from araç kiralama the previous article araba kiralama on this I gathered that players can use Google maps in-game to find the other (real-life?) dealers in their area.  If this is the case, has travesti anyone considered what's stopping someone from using this app to actually move drugs between hands for reals?

But majority araba kiralama of their outrage araç kiralama stems from what it could DO TO children, not the content itself.  Talk to one of these people and you'll find they don't think any books kiralık araba should be banned from children.  Mention American Psycho and they talk about kiralık araç the redeeming value of using imagination to construct a story.  Reading, no matter what the content, is largely viewed as a consequenceless activity for people of any age.  The reason why I mention American Psycho is because of the content itself.  Gaming never has and likely never will have any scenes where someone has sex with a severed head.  Not gonna happen.  Yet despite this, they'll fight tooth and nail to protect their children from two boys kissing in Bully but whatever they read is harmless... yeah.

The entire arguement is kiralık oto based upon a social normality inflicted by luddites who can't figure out the controls for Halo so it's frightening and terrifying and obviously the cause of youth violence on the rise even though, in reality, it's in decline (which is actually a HUGE suprise given minibüs kiralama the economies status).  In  a perfect world, we would have parents that actually parent.  The idea of sales restrictions on media on oto kiralama any form to accomidate parental unwillingness to get involved with their child's life is the real problem to me.  Here I am, 32 years old, and being held up at a self-scan rent a car needing to show ID before I can buy a $10 M rated game all because Soccer Momthra can't be bothered to look at the crap Billy Genericallystupidson does in his free time.  It's too hard for her, so I have to suffer?

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

It's funny how just the other day I was sayin' in the forum someone needs to make a stealth/action video game based on the spanish inquisition.

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

I'm laughing at all the great Monty Python refrences to care..... now where did I put that shubrey...

Holy Crap, I forgot about that thing!

Yeah, Marvin's has all sorts of crazy stuff.  Loved that place when I was a kid, but now it's just kind a mix between the stink of old peep show machines and the guys who love them and the funk of sadness and sweat from all the DDR machine.

I blew at least $50 there playing Time Traveler.  Felt like I was in Star Wars all 3D chess style!

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

bring out... THE COMFY CHAIR!

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

Dennis, were you forced to write this?

Did they put you in the comfy chair?!

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

No worse it was the knights who say Ni.

Amongst the repeating chanting of Ni they also forced him to endure a 4 hour getting hit on the head lesson.

---------------------------------------------------- Debates are like merry go rounds. Two people take their positions then they go through the same points over and over and over again. Then when it's over they have the same positions they started in.

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

Stop that! It's Silly!

And a bit suspect too....

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

I REALLY want ot go to that museum. I don't live that far away from it.

And I will add the machine he got wasn't made in american. The owner of the place always looks out for machines when traveling out of country, and machines like those are still made today.

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

Proof positive that violent interactive entertainment (even if that interactivity was limited to putting a penny in a machine) has been around fro a long time, yet here we are and civilization still stands.

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

I saw that on an episode of Modern Marvels.

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

And may I add, it's not really a 'game'. It's more of an exibit. You put your money in, and watch the little figurines get torchured.

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

(The website that is posted is more commonally known as simply videosift, the vintage is just a categorization channel.) in other news, "the spanish inquestion videogame made me do it"

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

 Cool, nice Monty Python refrence.

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

Would'a been funnier with a Mel Brooks' "History of the World" reference

"The Inquisition!

What a show!

The Inquisition!

Here we go!

The Inquisition!

What a place to beeeeeeeee!"

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

I know you're wishin' thad we'd go away.....
But the Inqusition's here and it's here to stay!

Re: Spanish Inquisition Shows That Violent Games Have Been

Al Capone became a criminal to get enough coins to play this penny arcade game.

Andrew EisenIf you find Biddle's statement off-putting, then you're certainly directing your distaste at the correct entity.10/19/2014 - 3:18pm
