The other day I called out God of War creator David Jaffe for a vlog in which he referred to Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin as "the perfect definition of a MILF." (see: God of War Designer David Jaffe Reduces Sarah Palin Candidacy to Lowest Common Denominator).
Apparently, Jaffe took notice - and took the heat. He has posted a new video which addresses the MILF issue:
There's this website out there, pretty good website in terms most of the content it covers. Pretty smart and I'm glad it's out there. But it was like... this accusatory tone of me being sexist or crass when I called Sarah Palin a MILF. I'm like, Oh my, god! ...Your Victorian sensibilities are very easily offended... I'm not sexist. I have two little girls. I respect and love women. I think we're all pretty much equal...
And I think that's just really f*cking nit picking and ultra-politically correct to the point of just being absurd to assume that because I look at a woman and I say the only thing I can see she's good for is f*cking... It's not sexist because I'm not saying that's what I see in all women when I look at all women. I'm saying when I look at her, that's the only redeeming quality I can find in her...
While I concur with Jaffe's position that there are more questions than answers about Sarah Palin, he and I will have to disagree on this one. Referring to Palin in public statements as a MILF reduces her - reduces any woman - to the level of a sex object.
I certainly don't think he's a bad guy - far from it. But Jaffe needs to realize that the level of candor which may be acceptable in a frat house or local pub doesn't play quite so well when delivered as public, on-the-Net-forever commentary. As the head of a respected game design studio, Jaffe has employees (some of whom may be women) who could be offended. He has key business relationships with corporate types who by nature are not eager to hand a ready-made issue to special-interest groups. Is that politically correct? To an extent, sure. But that's the nature of business today.
Beyond that, however, there's just something wrong about reducing a woman to the sum of her body parts.

Yes it was said on Prime Time UK TV. But that was on a satirical panel show, and they did rip her a new one when it came to her policies, opinions and McCain's pick of her.

I find the term very offensive and childish. Watching the rest of his video didn't improve my opinion, either. If he'd made the comment in private, amongst friends, I agree- no big deal. But the point is he made this statement, publicly, and like it or not plenty of people seem to have found it offensive, which can only further hurt their opinion of the gaming community.

Is there a particular reason why she wouldn't? Part of a politician's job (and their various staffers' jobs) is to be hyper-aware of public opinion and anything being said about them.

Whoever is writing the GP blog article on Jaffe is totally overreacting. Jaffe is not the only person to have had the impression that she's a MILF in that she has yet to do or say anything to validate herself as a vice presidential candidate beyond being a cute face that can recite someone else's speech. This is the point Jaffe made.
I agree its a little surprising to see someone in Jaffe's position make an un-PC statement like this and I expected people to be offended, but Christ, take a breather and listen to what the person actually said and not what you want to think the person said because its a convenient opportunity to make an exagerated political claim. You're brewing a storm in a tea cup. Get over yourself.

I might make the same comment about an attractive but otherwise useless man. For example, most boybands consist of men who are certainly nice to look at, but I wouldn't want to listen to their music, and I must admit that I have very little respect for them or their chosen genre. The fact that I make this comment says nothing about my opinion of men as a whole, merely certain men.
Oh, and incidentally, I agree with him. I wouldn't want to sleep with her (largely because I'm straight), but she is a pretty face and... not much else, from what I've read about her in the news.

It's not a new thing, and it something that the american public seem realtively satisfied with, or they elect a third party candidate, it's not like there's any lack of them (a lakc of sane one's maybe). "Satisfied" is not how i would describe it... more like they feel like they couldn't do anything about it even they didn't like it. The high majority of people consider voting for a third party to be like throwing away you're vote; they have that mentality that if we don't like either of the 2 party candidates that we should atleast vote for the lesser of two evils because voting third party is like not voting at all. For instance, there are many hillary supporters jumping over to McCain in protest against the democrats, why not jump over to third party.
There are many republicans who do not like McCain, their are many democrats who do not like Obama... but instead of giving the third parties any kind of REAL consideration, they either grudgingly fall behind their parties candidiate, or vote against their party entirely.
The 2 party system is a source of a lot of problems... the partisanship between democrats and republicans have turned things into a serious red state vs blue state kind of thing. The Democratic congress's abilities to take a lot of actions has been thwarted heavily by bush who vetoes everything they put forward, and the democrats use their majority to stop the republicans from pushing forward anything bush wouldn't veto. The supreme court has been about getting either liberals as judges or conservatives to give one side ruling power, with only one of which that actually acts as a swing voter. Frankly, things would be a lot more fair if all 9 judges were moderate instead of left or right... might see more cooperation between them instead of them splitting and fighting against eachother. Really, their was a reason why George washington hated the idea of politcal parties... united we stand, divided we fall; politcal parties birng some people together but their tear the entire country in half
The only thing stupid about blaming the two party system is that their is little that can be done... you can't abolish the parties as new parties would just form up from like minded people. Bringing about a third party is almost impossible thanks to the "vote for the lesser evil" mentality that people have developed; not to mention the problem is that without the two party system you would end up having officials voted in with only like 34% of the vote instead of 51%... The only thing that sounds like a solution to the problems caused by the two party system is to get rid of the far right and the far left and bring about more moderate politicians and bring about an age of bi-partisanship. Frankly, i was really hoping that either McCain or Obama would have been willing to risk their nomination to pursue such a cause... but they didn't... oh well, better luck in 2012

Flat taxes are extremely regressive.
And to be honest, I just stopped listening when you decried that a 3rd party would be the best solution. Some 3rd parties may have ideas that are good, that can be adopted by the established parties in some form, but most of what they espouse is garbage. They parade the word "revolution" constantly, without thinking of the consequences that rapid change will bring. To use Ron Paul supporters as an example, when I see them cry "revolution", most of them have no idea that revolution for most of history has resulted in society becoming extremely worse before getting better. Most of them don't have my background of coming from a country that has experienced revolutions both externally and internally inflicted.
This is why I support centrism. Which is not as sexy as 3rd parties or half naked pictures of Liberty leading the final revolution, but at the end of the day will get the job done.

Now for taxes
So you would rather have a complicated tax system that un fairly seeks to take 40% or more from the rich/business while making life difficult for the lesser classes though multiple levels of taxation creating more bureaucracy as so it might can give some money back?
By gutting the IRS into you make X amount you pay X amount PERIOD you'd almsot double the tax money made just by gutting the IRS.
Most of us would rather pay 20-30% of what we make and not have to worry about filing taxes as whatever we make the taxes are paid.
This would also remove Federal taxes on just about everything as WE the individual and business pay our fair share of the profit we make.
Also in turn you can make it a national sales tax adding about 30% to everything once you remove the federal tax on it and then thats even less paper work and bureaucracy to fck up due to keeping things simple.
There are no loop holes in a flat tax system you pay what you "earn" the more you earn or make money from the more likely you have to fill out crap but still its better than the BS and chips system we have now.

There are countries where every Tom, Dick, and Harry has a political party that has a chance of winning, but they certainly have not managed to come up with a better formula for democracy than the United States. A successful democracy is more than just having a lot of parties. Things like an educated middle class, stable institutions, and an emphasis on rule of law are much bigger factors than just having a third party win.
Your suggestion to dismantle the IRS is basically saying "start over". Which is not a realistic solution. And your basic point is that simplifying the tax system would lead to greater compliance. Well, duh. If we simplified our current tax code the same would happen. And this is not even talking about the potential black market that could develop with a 30% national sales tax, or how the hell we would we tax something like services, which don't always involve transfer of property or manufacture of goods.
And please don't put words in the mouths of the Founding Fathers. Alexander Hamilton and other Federalists formed the other half of the Founding Fathers that romantics too often forget. These men were for a strong central government and were pro-industry to the point of creating the 1st Bank of the US to help with modernization.
The strength of the Republic is from the balance of competing interests in society, not from the explosive change wrought from one faction browbeating the other.

Seems to me it's a pretty blunt way of saying he feels she's got nothing going in her favor but her looks. He made a short point that he didn't find her experience in the political field of any value. So, yes, he in fact DID consider her other aspects beyond looks.
Like it or not, the first thing you learn about someone is how they look, good or bad. Once you research them, directly or indirectly, you can take other factors into account. But looks will still remain, for good or ill.
The truth is that both men and women use appearance and sexuality as a determining factor. If you say someone look like they got beat down with a lead pipe, even if they didn't, you're still talking about their looks.
There have been discussions in the past as to whether someone with a physical deformity of the face could run for President. Rest assured, if someone did, the looks of that individual would receive a lot of attention, from both men and women.
Everyone CLAIMS to be offended because someone's appearance is judged, whether positive or negative. The fact is that given the right condistions, ANYONE will use the judgement of appearance as a factor in how they judge someone.
I don't condemn him for it. It was a bit blunt, but then, many folks have similar personailities.

Kinda tired of hearing about Sarah Palin all together. Not a SINGLE person has been able to say a good thing about her and I'm tired of all the bashing. I don't personally like her, but I've had enough.
On the other hand, I agree with Jaffe. She's got a mature sort of appeal to her sexually, and SADLY I think that's the only reason I'd ever consider even reading an article about her. Her censorship crap, to her daughters pregnancy debacle are tiring and a waste page space.
There are women out there absolutely ready to reduce themselves to the sum of their parts. Porn stars, and they're quite aware of their appeal. I think, as a politician, if sexiness can win votes then Sarah Palin is going to make that work for her.
