GTA Coming to the Wii?

GTA Coming to the Wii?

September 5, 2008

Are Nico Bellic and Liberty City coming to the Wii?

Take-Two CEO Ben Feder (left) wouldn't say yes and wouldn't say no during yesterday's conference call to discuss T2's third quarter financial results. As reported by MCVUK, here are Feder's comments:

With respect to GTA Chinatown I will tell you that we’ve spent an enormous amount of time and effort working with Nintendo and developing that partnership. We’re very proud of the partnership that we have to date.

We continue to build that relationship. We think we have significant value to add to that partnership and that’s not a one-way relationship in any way. GTA Chinatown Wars is not even the first step but certainly an important step in continuing to develop that relationship.

So without commenting on whether GTA specifically whether it is coming to the Wii or not, I will say that Nintendo and Take-Two work very well together. Nintendo and Rockstar are beginning to work well together and we intend to continue to grow that relationship.

GTA Chinatown, of course, is the DS title revealed by Nintendo at E3. No release date has been specified.

Any decision to move GTA to the Wii would likely be based on technology as opposed to residual queasiness over Nintendo's "family friendly" image. After all, the Wii has already been graced with Manhunt 2. The controversial Madworld is in the pipeline.

From a tech perspective, it would seem quite the challenged to get, say, GTA IV on the Wii, given the system's limited storage capacity. So perhaps if the GTA franchise does make it to the Wii, it will be a system-specific title.

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

Jack's worst nightmare comes true....GTA interactive on the Wii....

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

No, actually, he's likely been praying for this as his "ultimate proof"

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

Will they fix the shooting for it?  I don't know how they could screw that up for the Wii, but some companies have surprised me before I must admit.

I actually expect this game to do well if they do go Wii, but I respect the fact of keeping it to the other consoles instead, and not going the EA type route and create a GTA for Wii, GTA Street Racing, GTA Cooking with Tony....

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

Hopefully by the time this comes out, JT would be LONG forgotten.

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

Dead Rising is also coming to the Wii.

But, GTA IV? Seriously? Come on. Sure it, would be a gold mine for Nintendo, but for the rest of us it would be a bad game. Like it said up there; the Wii has puny tech specs compared to the 360 and PS3.

My suggestion. Make an original GTA game for the Wii.

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

GTA for Wii could work as long as they focus on it and make it as good as the PS2 games. The Wii may not have the horse power of the X-Box and PS3, but it's got more than enough to run a GTA game. But if it's a quick cash-in, there's no way it will run well on the Wii hardware.

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

I doubt the game will be GTA IV, there's no way the wii could handle that game.

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

No, GTA 4 is too big for a Wii Optical Disc.  But I think they may re-port (remake and port) GTA 3, Vice City,or San Andreas for the Wii.  I did read that they wanted to make a port of GTA 3 for the Gamecube but that failed.  So I think this maybe the first time GTA3 appear on a Nintendo console (well, not counting GTA Advance).  It's possible Vice City may appear on this console also.  Same thing for San Andreas.  But it's kind of nice to see GTA3 series on a Nintendo console.

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

GTA4Wii? I'd buy it...if nothing else, just to see what all the fuss is about.

Anyone know if there's a SMG in the game(s)?

Re: GTA Coming to the Wii?

If a GTA game does come to the Wii, it would be about fucking time. And it is possible to put something like GTA IV on it if possible. Look at the Wii version of Dead Rising coming out.

Dennis McCauley, you're a fraud.  You have a posting policy below, and yet here you have allowed some idiot to use the F word above, and you allowed the assertion here that I am a homosexual.  Grow up.

Shut the fuck up.  You break those policies with nearly ever single one of your posts.  And yet Dennis has shown you more patience than most people would have shown you.

JDKJ: But cheer up, Austin. If the unemployment rate continues to double-digit as predicted for the next few years, your half-dozen stands a better than likely chance of returning to power.

JDKJ: @DS: If he had added the line about "or hiring illegals aliens under the table to work as nannies," it would have been a completely perfect descripition. And, yes, it's about the same difference between a six and a half-dozen.

DarkSaber: My god, that description makes them sound almost Republican. Still what did you expect, Obama is only marginally more left than republicans.

Austin_Lewis: Yes, and what a piece of crap it was. Arresting and fining people just because they don't make a personal choice to buy healh insurance, creating over a hundred new bureacracies, and worse.

JDKJ: Which could be explained by both (a) and (b).
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:56am
Austin_Lewis: JDKJ: You forgot C) the fact that, for some reason, every time he did something that would suggest he shouldn't be in the military, let alone an officer, higher ups ignored it or let it slide.
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:51am
JDKJ: Part of the problem is, I believe, that (a) the Army had a lot of time and money already invested in him and which they were unwilling to simply write-off and (b) an increasing need for the type of skills and services he provided.
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:48am
JDKJ: And that even if he was begging not to get cut loose, he was apparently a real good candidate for being cut loose, anyway.
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:11am
JDKJ: @chada: And while Kennedy once noted that there's usually more than enough blame for everyone to get a slice, the possibility that the Army was unwilling to cut loose someone who was asking to get cut loose could be a factor.
