Personally I think this whole "ZOMG N1TEND0 ABANDONZ US, IM SELLING MA WII" bandwagon is BS. I've actually got games on the Wii to look forward to including Wario Land:Shake It and Madworld. In fact, I play both the Wii and 360 equally (SSBB on Wii and GTA4 on 360, but they're not the only games I have).
Besides, today's Casual crowd can later become Core in the future.

Meh the new demographic of gamers are the casual core they waff from media whores who'll buy anything and simi hardcore gamers that will buy anything, the trouble is when you buy anything the industry will crank out crap because it can.
Not calling the WII crappy no... calling the whole 8th generation crappy, when games were made for enthusiasts at least you got twice the entertainment for the moeny now you'll lucky to break even...
I really wish publishes would slow down and put more polish/quality in their arse products...

You don't really understand the nature of a market like this. You see during the Gamecube era Nintendo tried to do what you are stating. But for the last few generations, Nintnedo wasn't able to confront what Sony and Microsoft had in the bag with alot of what the hardcore gamers want.
But Nintendo has come back because they decided to try on a new approach with a different audiance. I hear many 'hardcore' people shout at the Wii as a failure. But that's a narrow prespective, I hardly considering several things of there that sells out continously really marked as a failure really.

But it's still ironic that, even though Nintendo's underwhelming E3 press conference was made for just that, the press ( and therefore they want to see big marketing ideas make their way to every joe American that reads the newspaper) it's only the hardcore, long-time Nintendo gamers that camp by their computer monitors to watch the conference.

either you're missing your sarcasm tags, or your missing the point.
If you're serious, consider this; for every "hardcore" person leaving nintendo because they feel jilted, there's 5 new people going to it because its welcoming to them.
Now consider that. Sony and Microsoft, who are intent on catering to the "hardcore" are having a steadily decreasing population, as to cater to them requires more expensive equipment which is reaching the point where it can't be affordable. Nintendo on the other hand, with being welcoming to all players and focusing on the new people, have a steadily increasing market.

I should also add, that the reason they lost me, was because the games I liked to play went to the PS1. NOw that I am older, have a job and a family, my gaming tastes have changed as well as my budget. I no longer have the time to play the types of games I use to nor the money to buy them. The Wii has brought to me something that fits my time, my budget and my family.
Sure I would like to see more story based games. They are coming and there are currently plenty available.

Funny you should say that. Nintendo lost me with the N64/PS1 generation. They have actually won me back with this genereation.
