Ultima Creator Garriott Will Carry Stephen Colbert's DNA into Space

The Associated Press reports that when Ultima series creator Richard Garriott travels to the International Space Station in October, he will carry with him the DNA of Stephen Colbert. Said the comedian:
I am thrilled to have my DNA shot into space, as this brings me one step closer to my lifelong dream of being the baby at the end of 2001 [A Space Odyssey].
Garriott, whose father was a NASA astronaut, is gathering material for a human DNA time capsule. The Ultima designer, often known as Lord British, quipped:
In the unlikely event that Earth and humanity are destroyed, mankind can be resurrected with Stephen Colbert's DNA. Is there a better person for us to turn to for this high-level responsibility?

You could make a woman by doubling up on the male's single X chromosome (removing the Y in the process). As women don't possess a Y chromosome the reverse wouldn't be possible. Of course, theoretically fun as this is, the real world consequence of inbreeding could be quite drastic... :D

Because an alien race capable of sythesizing a viable human by "doubling up" the x chromosome (which really wouldn't work, atleast as far could do) wouldn't be capable of repairing the damage caused by recessive genes due to imbreeding?
Actually, you make Down Syndrome by doubling the X chromosome.
Well, no, you get Down's Syndrome from an extra or partially extra 21st chromosome, not a doubled X chromosome. You may be thinking of Kleinfelter's Syndrome, which occurs in males with an extra X chromosome.

It'd probably be a good idea to get quite a few diffrent DNA samples. From around many thousands to millions and such. The more, the better off out descendants would be. If the new humanity was cloned from like, 3 guys, then we'd barely last a couple of generations...
Other than that, ROFL.
Actually I think this is related to the same blood sample collection that was being done at Comic-Con, where if you found someone of the opposite gender wearing the same color as you, you could have blood samples take for storage. Although I'm not sure that the DNA of several hundred comic nerds will be that much more useful.
