Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

October 14, 2008 -

Opening up your game console usually voids the warranty - especially if you then proceed to stuff it with illegal substances.

As reported by the Courier Mail, police in Australia have arrested three men after finding 3,400 ecstasy tablets concealed inside a PlayStation 2 that was shipped to their residence in Surfers Paradise.

Don't expect to see these guys hanging ten anytime soon. The maximum penalty is life in prison and/or an $825,000 fine.

The kicker will be when Sony sues them for modifying the console ;)

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

makes me wonder if the cops just let it rot in an evidence locker where someone might take it, or eventually dispose of it in a manner that anyone in their right mind won't attempt to recover it, such as mixing it in with raw sewage or cyanide, or... throwing it in a volcano?

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

haha I suppose I am a bit harsh on it - there are some very nice things about it but most of those go out the window as soon as it gets dark. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun place to party - but smuggling in that many pills is evidence enough of a lot of the problems there.

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

For those of you that don't know Surfer's is pretty much a party town as in that is it's entire reason for existence. It has no other purpose. The beaches are nice... but you can't surf in the morning anymore without having to step through broken glass in the sand... so really it's more of a "Staff Infection Paradise"... we were going to put that on the postcards but decided against it... I'm glad they made a decent bust, the drug problem here is horrendous. But it's still just a drop in the ocean...

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

Well, I'm sure that Surfers Paradise serves another purpose. I'm assuming that you're a resident there or in the surrounding area?

Gasp some idiots decided to do that? Actually not that surprised. Drug dealers are the worst out there... Maybe they can call a certain old narcassistic crackpot lawyer for some advice before that lawyer loses their ability to practice law :P

They probably won't get life but I think that it's likely that they'll get about 15 years for exporting that much into the country.

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

He doesn't need to, but you better start saving up so you can, since it's obvious you plan to keep calling yourself an attorney well after the 25th, despite reality.

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

Zelnick isn't a part of Sony. He's the head of T2/RS. All the companies aren't part of a single entity, Mr. Thompson.

What about you? Did you depose the President? Did you "figuratively" destroy the Florida Bar? Has there been an epidemic of slingshot injuries? Those were things you promised us, and you're supposed to be the 'big important lawyer man.' What happened?

Oh, right, you got self-obsessed and blew that reverse digestive system you call a mouth into overdrive in some attempt to make yourself feel special. That's what children do, Mr. Thompson. Are you a child? Because you could have fooled me.

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

Seriously Jack, have you looked at yourself lately???  You are nothing more than a forum troll here.  Is that what your life is reduced to?  Getting attention from a group of gamers discussing politics?

I think it is high time you took a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself what the hell you have done with your life because frankly to fall from grace so hard has to have knocked a LITTLE sense into you.

You no longer have a career, you threw away any credibility you had a long while ago but now you are just coming off as a whack-job.  Do yourself a BIG favour; go away, get your life sorted out and think about what sort of an example you are setting to your son as a father.

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

Huh, here I thought Jack only responded to articles with his name in the tagline. Why would somebody ruin a perfectly good PS2 for something so... pointless.

You don't need ecstasy to have fun with a PS2 but oh well.

I wonder how they found out.

Or

'Suspects were playing Katamari Damacy and complaining that the game was too bland and generic.'

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

That looks like one of the old, bulky PS2s. Obviously they'd be caught. I mean, who really uses those anymore except to ship drugs? Nearly everyone has one of the slim versions now. They really should have sent a PS3. I mean, sure, it would've been more expensive but think about it: "Who would spend that much and then destroy a PS3 just to ship drugs?"

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

A PS2?

I would have used an Xbox.  Lots more room in one of those.

Mr. Thompson, it's comments like that which got you into this mess you're trying to dig yourself out of in the first place. Seriously, do you even think you're being clever? If you were about seven years old, then maybe it would for YOU.

Re: Australian Cops Seize Ecstasy Shipment Hidden inside PS2

But he's right. Obviously these guys have trained hardcore in Geometry similators they've gotten from walmart (selling mature rated Geometry rated titles such as Grand Theft Octagon, Saints Pythagorean Theorem, and Mortal Hexagon to minors...). They've been trained to know you can put more things into bigger boxes than in smaller boxes! They've been shown the horrendous theory of area, and are tainted for it.

I just want you to know, Mr. Thompson, that I'll be working with you to get these wicked Geometry similators off the streets so we won't have people using this knowledge for more evil. Before we both know it, we'll have children filling boxes with other evil objects, such as rock and roll albums!
