Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

November 13, 2008

Everyone's favorite disbarred attorney has a new gig.

It seems that Jack Thompson is now penning a column for conservative website Human Events.

Thompson teased his new assignment in a post on GamePolitics yesterday:

This new ESRB bandaid just gets more of the camel's nose into the video game industry's tent. Look for a federal law prohibiting sale of mature games to minors in Obama's first term.  It will be wildly popular with parents in both  parties, as a recent video game industry poll proves.

The new statutory approach is constiutionally bullet proof...

PS:  Hey, I have a new job that began today, and I'm not saying what it is, but you kids won't be pleased!

GP: So, Jack Thompson, cub reporter?

Big thanks to: GP reader Maxamegalon2000 for the tip!

This is going to be fun! Yes, Jack, we are pleased!

Yes, we are. :D

P.S. The lyrics are "Like a drifter...", not "Like a stripper..." XP

In before "lol wonder when jack will show!"

Which industry poll is he referring to?  The last two that I read both said most parents were gaming with their kids, not clamouring for increased prohibitions.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Good to see Mr. Thompson back in the work force.  :)

Also you have to love how the his description at the bottom of the article described him as a "former lawyer" instead of a "disbarred lawyer" which is more accutare.  xD

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I was surprised he was able to FIND work, the way the economy is going.

By the way, I wonder how much being an author on an online conservative rag pays...

Game on, brothers and sisters.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I'm a little suprised any website wanting to be taken seriously would allow a disbarred lawyer who submitted pornography in his court filings to write a column. Especially a conservative website. Do they even bother to do any research on their own writers? Oh well, I suppose I'll just go right ahead and assume they already knew all of that and fully support his previous actions.

:: facepalm ::

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Forget being Disbarred the man can barely write. Reading some of his court statements makes me wonder if his spell and gramar check software in office was removed.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I predict his column will be read more by his opponents (gamers) than by others. Don't give him any attention, he is a pundit now, he has no power anymore.

So, who wants to bet on how long till they get annoyed with his antics and distance themselves from him?

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Well. He isn't gone for good -- but I'm glad that he did find a new job.

I know. SHOCKER. I'm happy that he found a job. The reason why, though, is that he is a father with a son. I'm sure things are hard for him too, with everything the way it is. A conservative reporter/blogger type of job is perfect for him. He lost touch as a lawyer, so I hope he can rant away to his heart's content.

But, at least he's happy.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

His wife is a sucessful lawyer, they are not hurting for money.

Though I imagine, given his theological background, it must REALLY eat at him that his wife is the breadwinner instead of submissive to him (like he seems to think other women should be to their husbands)

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

He believes in that? Seriously. Wow...

Amy Levandoski

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

More fundamental Christians believe in the authority of the husband (it is related to Islam and Judaism).  The husband lives to serve God and the wife lives to serve the husband...which pleases God.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Big whoop.

But of course, he couldn't tell the truth in his bio, besides the "former" instead of "disbarred" lawyer:

He secured the first broadcast decency fines ever levied by the FCC (1989) and represented Oliver North at the 1992 Time Warner shareholders meeting, persuading TW to pull rapper Ice-T's "Cop Killer" from store shelves worldwide.

False. Everyone knows that Ice-T pulled the album himself. Go watch his VH1 Behind the Music.

Geaux Saints, Geaux Tigers, Geaux Hornets, Jack Thompson can geaux chase a chupacabra.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

From the article:

"Mr. Thompson is a writer and former lawyer in Miami who was Janet Reno's Republican opponent in 1988 for State Attorney. He secured the first broadcast decency fines ever levied by the FCC (1989) and represented Oliver North at the 1992 Time Warner shareholders meeting, persuading TW to pull rapper Ice-T's "Cop Killer" from store shelves worldwide."

Y'know, I think that little blurb of his summarizes just about all of his successes in his professional life.  Check that, he also failed to beat out Janet Reno.

No mention of his more unpleasant activities, his nearly innumerable failures, his dozens of counts of professional misconduct, his logic-less rantings, downright malicious harassment.

Edit: Beardog beat me to it.  Another 'success' crossed off the list.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Oh dear now he will be spreading his anti video game messages to a MUCH larger group of people. 0_0

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Yeah, but they're probably already against us anyway. So he's just kind of an echo to them of what they already think, only louder and with more rabies.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

^^^This, more or less.

Thompson's always more or less preached to the choir and what he'd probably generally call "his people."  But in all consideration, this is likely better than his idiot mug on Faux News and other broadcast media where he reaches a more broad and otherwise equally as uninformed audience to sway to his kind of narrow-minded thinking.

After all, people find it easier to just watch the idiot box than read an article of fluff, much less anything of meaningful, critical value.  Why do you find it that it's most often celebrity and tabloid rags that are placed at the supermarket checkout?  Personally, with Thompson's imagination, I always figured him more likely to get work writing for the Weekly World News.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

lol

that'll get him heard! seriously... aren't there just barely more readers of conservitive blogs as compared to, say, tabloids?

whatch out JT or them aliens may get ya and let big foot do his thing on yer behind!

i think he'd get more out of standing on the side of the street with a sign that said "games made me this way" as he was all dressed up as a bloody hobo or something...

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

ROFLMAO

So wait, now he's writing for a conservative paper and uses the name Michelleobamarama on gamepolitics? Someone needs a lesson on... well actually JT needs a lesson in a lot of things.

No disrespect to pundits intended, but when you go from being a lawyer to a pundit because you were disbarred, I don't think you should be jumping up and down with glee about it. That being said, I actually read the first article he had up today, and it's not too shabby actually. Perhaps he may have found his niche :p His "signature" or whatever it is, is self righteous, but the rest of it seems as unbiased as you possibly can be from a conservative site.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Actually, going from respectable professional to pop-media after disgrace is a pretty normal thing to do.

Professional organizations have standards, and people who can't play by the rules but still rant well enough find that it can be far more profitable to go the media route.  I mean, look at Dr Phil... he had his license revoked for ethical violations and then became quite popular (and wealthy) via beocming a pop-psychologist where the ethical standards are much lower (and no oversight).

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

So wait, he writes reports and expects the president to actually care? Am I supposed to be impressed or something here? I feel like this is just another epic fail for him. Good to know that he got a new job. I'll take bets on how long he can hold it till he gets fired for sending porn to his boss or something like that. Hahah.

Good luck jack!

No, seriously... I'm happy for the guy. I mean... as an attorney, JT was just a caustic, abusive, jerk. As a pundit... well... I think after a long drawn out election year, we're all pretty resistant to written insanity :P. But I hope his tenture at human events bear more fruit than his previous career... cuz a little constructive use of his time would probably be really good for the guy.

okay, well that didn't make a whole heck of a lot of sense...

but the message still stands: CONGRATS JACK! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW DIGgS!

Congrats Thompson.  I don't know why you thought we wouldn't be pleased.  I think writing for a conservative publication is wholly appropriate for you.

Just remember that you're a contributor, not a columnist.  I'd hate to have to contact Human Events and tell them that you're misrepresenting yourself.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Haha, well played.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Also:

"It will be wildly popular with parents in both  parties, as a recent video game industry poll proves."

A) Whenever Jack refers to a poll/survey/study/research without evidence of it, a majority of the time it turns out to not really exist either at all or in the form he claims it did.

B) In the cases where it does exist and says what he says it does, in proper context, or he does reference it, it turns out to be BS.

C) Allowing for the possibility that a fair and unbiased poll found the majority of the pollsters in favor of video game regulation, I say this: Just because something is 'popular' does not make it good, or right.  See Britney Spears, Heroine, Gas Tax Holiday, Patriot Act, the list goes on.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Congratulations to Jack Thompson.  I am glad he found a job.  Although it's a far cry from being a lawyer, he can now write for like-minded people.  My money is on him saying or doing something stupid to get fired or sued.

Some advice, Jack:  You best keep the hyperbole and outrageous statements under control.  You can and will be held accountable for what you say by your employers.  Also, there will be comments placed to your articles you may not agree with.  That does not mean you can harrass them, email them, find out who they work for, sue them, or add them to your "gay conspiracy".  Deal with it like an adult for a change.

By the way, what ever happened to your jackvsgoliath and copycatviolence websites?

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I know, I couldn't resist saying that. And No for clarification, I'm not going to spam his editorials. I actually left him a nice a comment there for once.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I, for one, won't be signing up to his rss feed, won't be visiting his blog, and I won't be posting comments to his site.

Please people, keep in mind that places like that count HITS, not opinions. Which means he can be full of spit, you could log on there and say he is full of spit, everyone could be proving that he is full of spit, but the website would only count hits.

This is ONE case where ignoring him would make him go away.

I am also surprised that anyone would hire him when he has already been disbarred for lying among other things. I doubt he put much truth in his resume, and unless they actually looked up stuff (rather then just calling his references a.k.a. Wunderman) then they probably don't know Jack.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

His disbarrment doesn't matter to Christian Conservatives. Apparently, Christians are allowed to get away with anything so long as its religiously motivated.  He will be preaching to the choir there.

Remember, they think Free Speech only applies to Religious Speech.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

That and disaggreeing with government policies. That's about it.

It's funny though, gun control advocates can point to the wording of the second amendment and say 'they meant guns only belong with a 'well regulated militia''.

Certain Conservatives would disagree yet say the first amendment only covers free speech when you're protesting the government yet there's nothing to suggest that.

Disclaimer: I do not support gun control other than background checks and possibly (short) waiting periods. I do not support banning assault rifles and I believe the framers of the bill of rights intended for citizens to own guns. I base that off a quote from Jefferson.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Its one of those paradoxes.  Both liberals and conservatives think the Bill of Rights isn't absolute.  Liberals say that about the 2nd Amendment, Conservatives about the 1st Amendment.

I say its all or nothing.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Agreed

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" - Benjamin Franklin

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Actually, both parties have their way with the first ammendment.  Dems like to label most anything as "hate speech" if it offends anyone and are usually PC nazis.  Conservatives meanwhile usually want more religious involvement in the government while at the same time putting hate on the Muslims.  These are generalities, of course.  Both sides have their various ammendments they like to take as casual advice rather than a core tennant of our country's belief and legal system, but they both go hate'n on the 1st ammendment.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I completeley agree.  Let the comments section on his articles remain a barren wasteland.

But if anyone finds that they absolutely cannot resist posting something, please remember this:

KEEP IT CLEAN!

I'm not even kidding.  Even one "lulz jt u shud die" among a thousand posts, and he'll wave it around as an example of what gamers are, and the 'unjustified harrassment' he 'bravely' suffers through.  He's done it many times before.

There's no need to stoop to his level.

Most people here already know this, and wouldn't act like that anyway, I know.  This is for the few who would: Please don't give us gamers and more of a bad rep than we already have.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

With that said, he'll probably just post stuff like that on himself and claim he's being threatened.

1. Human Events? That rag has no credibility at all. I've seen ads for them in my Gmail. They publish Ann "Coultergeist" Coulter, Robert Novak, L. Brent Bozell III, Michelle Malkin, Bill "BillO the Clown" O'Reilly, and Phyllis Schlafly. If that doesn't give some indication of their inanity, I don't know what will.

2. How would federal legislation on video games be a conservative thing? I thought that conservatism (at least in the American sense) meant less government intervention and regulation, not more.

Spekkio, Master of War

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Conservatism only ment that when it was felt that liberals were in charge.

As the concervative movement gained power over the years it shifted to 'the government needs to protect people from themselves' so you got more morality laws.   Freedom means living your life their way.. so if something goes against their way of life it is infringing and needs to be stopped, but if it goes the other way then it's the democratic process deciding how everyone should live.  51% is always right as long as it is them.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Sigh well so much for my hope that we wouldn't hear for him for at least a few months. Well I'm sure he'll be a big hit on Bill O'riley and Fox News.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

So, now he's just a Right Wing nutjob writing for a Conservative blog run by other Right Wing nutjobs that will only be read by more Right Wing nutjobs.  Sounds fine to me.  Based on the comments I read it sounds like he's just preaching to the choir, which again is just fine (hey, the guy's bound to have at least some people who share his extremist viewpoints, improbable as that may seem.)  We've been after him for years to get his own blog so he can spew his hatred, lies and outrageous statements.  Well, he's finally pretty much got that now.  So just let 'im.  At least he now has a venue to do that, so hopefully that'll mean he'll be harassing us here less often and abusing the comments section here with his spamming, insults and threats.

Personally I thought maybe he would have been hired by the PTC, which would have been a match made in hell.  At least now he's just another Conservative hack and can't threaten anyone with lawsuits.  As long as Fox News doesn't give him a television show, I don't think we have much to worry about from him.  I won't subscribe to his RSS feed, but I might bookmark it.  It should be good to read at least for a few yuks.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Congrats on the new job Jack.

No more really need be said, at least for now.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

(shrug) - OK - so, he's got a blog. Nice.

Jokes aside, I kinda knew he was gonna end up just another douchebag with an opinion.  What's remarkable is that anybody would pay for it.  Still, you know what they say about fools and their money.  Well, good for him really, I know allot of people out of work these days, have to kind of make the best of it.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

People will pay for anyone with even a midly recognizable name these days.

Good luck, Jack.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I'm curious if this is actually a paying gig or not.  Looking at their "contributors" most of them are just republications of nationally syndicated columns that they convieniently don't mention.

I find it quite funny that at one point he writes, "he told this reporter." So now he's calling himself a reporter?

http://www.popularculturegaming.com

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I'm not so sure getting paid 10 cents a word for the occassional article qualifies as a "job." I'll bet Jack won't make  more  than $5,000 a year doing that -- not that he was making $5,000 a year before. And it's not the first time he's a contributing writer (and I use the word "writer" loosely) for a conservative news/opinion blog. Back in the day, he did a stint contributing drivel to NewsMax.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I just realized how perfect a set up this new "job" is for Jack.

Now he has even more reason and time to spend on a computer, something that has already been long his favorite pastime.

And any site that includes Ann Coulter and many of those other names in a positive manner isn't one that deals much with sensible reason.  Which means Thompson will really fit in there!

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Reading all the comments saying 'Good on you for getting a job' makes me smile. Because if, say, a GP editor was fired and then it was reported that he passed the bar or something, I'm almost positive Thompson would call him a 'Godless bastard' who is 'corrupting the youth of this country' or something. It would probably be bitter and laced with various nasty comments.

Showing humility in victory. Gamers ftw.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Am I the only one who gets the sense that "conservative columns" are for washed up people whose actual careers have gone down the toilet?  There was that Pat Boone guy who Dennis covered a while ago and now this.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Why am i not surprised that this is all he could cook up? Now instead of staring at the computer typing endless rants and press releases, he's now a news blogger. Blogging. Just what his 'opponents' do. The circle is now complete...

That said, i'm glad he at least got SOMETHING to fill his financial void. Though sadly, this will probably make for more of a profit for him than his last decade as an attorney...

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I also find it mildly ironic that his lunacy will be protected under the first amendment. Talk about cruel twist of fate.

Given it is sad to a point that he lost his career (ok not really) but maybe this will work...thats a tough maybe though..

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Keep in mind, he never supported his family.  His wife is a successful and well respected Lawyer (even a member of the bar's board.).  She has been the breadwinne since I can't recal JT actually having won any cases in decades.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

She's a member of the Bar's Board? Wow I didn't know that. Which brings a question to mind, and that question is this: Why didn't she tell the gasbag to shut the hell up when she knew as well as anyone they could and would eventually take the hammer to him?

If a law was made that required people to twirl around and sing every time they saw a guy with a red hat, no one would do it, and no one would enforce it.

It's the same thing with this law : JT has made anyone that dares criticize violent video games look like a braying jackass. It'd be like a heroine addict shooting up and telling me antibiotics were destroying my body.

Somebody needs to shut this guy up, as his rantings have made it OKAY for the industry to escalate video game violence exponentially over the past few years. With gears of war 2 and fallout 3's 'blow their heads into anatomically correct chunks' (okay, maybe not anatomically correct) violence being sold as just "M" alongside games like unreal tournament 3 (which had some gibs and blood and cussing, which should be M), parents can't make an informed decision.

But nope, as long as he still throws idiotic hissy fits and claims he's intelligent because he DOESN'T play violent video games, people are going to look at the violence, just to NOT be like him.

And if JT, like the obsessive twit we know he is takes the time to read comments reads this one, I'd love to hear his response)

Apparently live action violence, such as Batman, and comic violence, again Batman (one of his favorite shows), don't affect people.

CSI, law and order:SVU, 24, sarah conner chronicles, none of these shows that go as far as depicting rape scenes and throat slittings create violence or desensitize. No, hookers laying in a puddle of their own blood, a man getting his head blown to bits with a shotgun, all of this is fine and dandy.

Nor do shows about certain superheros dedicating their lives to vengeance and ignoring loved ones send a message to young kids. Something about turning the other cheek, about who vengeance belongs to.

Also, in romans chapter 14 there is a verse about not purposing to cause other people to metaphorically stumble based on your beliefs. Wow. For a supposedly 'christian' 'right winged' 'conservative' you sure have some nasty habits contrary to your label.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

It's not illegal to sell M rated games to minors anywhere in the United States.  It is an industry imposed and supported action.  In fact, all the laws that get struck down are ones that do try to make selling to minors illegal.

Cub reporter?  Not quite, Dennis.  That would refer to someone who hasn't done this before.

I covered the Elian Gonzalez saga for Newsmax.com and on Fox News Channel a dozen times in 2000.  I then covered the Bush v. Gore post election fight here in Florida for Newsmax.com as well and on Fox.

There's a lot about Jack Thompson that Dennis McCauley doesn't know.  If he did, he would be even more nervous than he already is.

No reason to doubt it's true.  Thompson's been on Fox News plenty of times.  And seeing how much ink he spilled over the incident at Newsmax I don't find it much of a stretch for him to have talked about it on Fox News.

Was it actually a dozen times in 2000?  Probably not but you never know.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Yeah, but the thing is, you look through the list of article titles, and you can see that Thompson was essentially using the NEwsmax site to bash Janet Reno. How disrespectful Thompson is.

So you have another site that you will never update, and are likely to be fired from because if soemoen dares disaggree with you you will try your damn hardest to ruin their lives.

Also, just because you don't see the articleso n this site as news doesn't mean we don/'t. Of course, you only believe it to be news if your ugly face is posted up on the front page.

In any cas,e I know you only told us because you believe we can't resist harassing people, so, you sit there with your sense of false superiority, and I'll sit here and never go near your blog.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I wouldn't call what you did for NewsMax on the L'l Elian saga "coverage." More like you used NewsMax to constantly disparage the efforts of the family's attorneys and tout yourself as the only attorney in Florida capable of saving Elian from his inevitable fate: deportation back to Cuba. And that makes you a seasoned news reporter? If you say so.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Maybe it's because I'm sick but when I watch him write that, I'm imagining him sitting on Dennis' desk with a pair of sunglasses on, going, "Dennis, Dennis, Dennis... So good to see you. I... missed you." Like the Matrix.

Mr. Thompson, with all due respect... You didn't prove anything in the last few years. What're you going to prove now? You have your own blog now, so go write on there. If you harrass people now, you will get harrassed back an' I don't want to hear you whine and moan about it.

Bob Dole loves talking about Bob Dole! Bob Dole!

Man, people really get up onto a high horse... Or, rather, think they're on the high-horse. But being on a high-horse is the polite way of saying "you're being an idiot." And that's my polite way of saying... Well, even for some people, I have basic standards...

... Jackass...

Anyway, you realize a federal law would be pretty much moot? Dedicated gaming stores (Game Stop, EB Games) have policies. I had to present my ID to get Fable II, and I'm 18 (I look well into college age, though). Besides, it doesn't stop the kids from getting the games. It would just be a redundant law, wasting precious time and money (like they always do) in order to pass, that ultimately wouldn't have much of an effect. My parents bought me Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty when I was 12. They let me play GTA3 when I was the same age too (my dad personally though I could stand the violence (I've been playing shooter games for as long as I rmemeber (Duck Hunt counting, that is), but was against the possibility of killing cops (his father was a detective in the Philly police a long time ago)). My mom's only concern was if I knew what a prostitute was or not (in which I responded with "hooker").

Something like these games are like curse words. By age 8, all kids know all of the curse words. They may not say them, but they know them... So, really, they way for the Thompson "cause" to succeed, you'd have to take away fundamantal rights of citizens, adults, and parents. The freedom of speech, the freedom to buy legal items, and the freedom to raise their own children how they want (within legal boundaries). Quite frankly, a lawyer such as yourself would understand that such an accomplishment would be impossible... At least as long as America is, you know... America... you facist pig.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

John Bruce, would you mind clarifying the following statement on your article:

Back in 1988 Bennett was the GOP challenger to Palin for the district attorney's job in Dade County. Bennett's unique campaign message was that Palin was unfit for the job because, as a closeted lesbian with a drinking problem, she was great candidate for blackmail by the criminal element. Bill never explained why this remained a threat even after he exposed her "secret." Reno cruised at the polls.

Jack Thompson Disbarred Attorney

Maybe now you idiots will listen.

I don't understand where you get that Palin ran for DA in Dade County nor how she is a lesbian and a drunk. I also don't see how shw was doing much in politics in 1988.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

So THIS was the Secret Plan (TM) Jack's been hinting at all through his disbarrment proceedings?  Allowing himself to be stripped of his attorney's title, ending his legal career in disgrace, so that he could make a miraculous comeback as... a right-wing rant-writer (say that 3x fast) for some obscure political blog?

Wow, guess he sure showed us.  Congratulations, Jack, you win.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

Decided to take a stroll through their obscene material.  I'm an adult, I can do that.

I love this phrase on the About Us page:

"In every issue, you will savor that rare moment in journalism when the thick fog of liberal bias is blown away to reveal... THE NAKED, BEDROCK TRUTH!"

Actually, if we REALLY wanted to read that properly, it would read:

"In every issue, you will savor that rare moment in journalism when the thick fog of liberal bias is blown away to reveal... Conservative bias"

A clearly Christian religious bias can be seen in just the overwhelming Anti-Muslim stories.

Not to mention the reference to the Anti-Theory of Evolution in public education stance.  Perhaps they support the Theory of Creationism or the Theory of Intelligent Design?  Not likely they want the Spagetti Monster taught in schools.

So, in fact, we aren't dealing with a REAL news organization.  Only politically biased and bigoted garbage.  You might call it a political sensationalist rag, if anything.

I did notice at the bottom of the page that "Human Nature" is a part of the "Eagle Publishing Co.".  Is that associated with the hate group The Eagles Forum?

As to John Bruce being a contributor, big fat hairy deal.  Eric Rudolph is a contributor of articles too.  I have no doubt that Fred Phelps is as well.  And certainly Lyndon LaRouche has a few published articles too.  There are a large number of individuals who contribute to print.  So what?  A religious sociopath had an op-ed piece published in a newspaper earlier this year advocated abuse against kids based on their sexuality, preceived or actual, and claimed it was their religious Right to do so and they were against an Anti-Abuse (Anti-Bully) law in NC because of it.  I'm about as impressed with their ability to publish as I am with John Bruce's.

Rather odd that Jack thinks we actually care what the hell he does for a living. As long as he is no longer an attorney, therefore most everything he rants about in regards to videogames will be ignored. With one less childish psycho in the mix, maybe there can actually be some sort of reasonable dialogue about videogame violence and it's impact, rather than having to listen to the sensationalistic ravings of an attention whore.

Re: Jack Thompson's New Gig: Pundit

I'm honestly surprised he didn't try to hide his "former lawyer" status, or that he had been a lawyer at all, from his tiny little bio:

I'm also surprised he has NO mention of his crusade.. maybe they told him it was too controversial to include? But then, he would've flaked-out if they'd strong arm'd him on that.. unless he REALLY needed the money.. hmm.. confused..

chadachada321: Whoops, was out of the convo for awhile. I do wonder what type of ammo he used etc, but the real issue is WHY he did it, not HOW

JDKJ: But if it turns out that they actually did, they'll have Hell to pay.

JDKJ: And I'd tend to rule out the possibilty of FN Herstal supplying restricted ammunition to someone merely because they're ordering it from a military base.

Austin_Lewis: There are other firearms that fire the 5.7. However, I too would like to know where he got the ammo and what kind was used. Maybe Hasan, planning not to live through this, went out and bought one the boxes of SS190 that are floating around in

JDKJ: And it isn't yet clear what type of ammunition Hasan used. It's strange that he purchased a gun but didn't purchase ammunition for it at the same place and time. Especially because the calibre required is peculiar to the actual gun.
