Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero Commercial

November 14, 2008 -

On Fox News program The O'Reilly Factor, pundit Bill O'Reilly tries to drag Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero commercial into the culture wars, but even his two conservative female guests don't want to go there.

At issue is Heidi's Risky Business-inspired Guitar Hero shredding routine. O'Reilly is apparently concerned about the the moral effects of the commercial, featuring a lingerie-clad Klum, airing in prime time.

Then again, O'Reilly has never been much of a fan of video games. Or iPods. Or Blackberries. But Mr. Morality does enjoy a good loofa.

Nothing to see here, just O' Reiley trying to drum up controversy where there is none.  Business as usual for him.

He should get a side job working for Kotaku.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

He'd get bored reporting about EVERY DAMN ERO GAME EVA 14 times a day for that.  Of course he could post the rumors he got from a disgarded napkin picked up outside a wendy's Blizzard employees have been known to frequent.  Sounds about on par with Kotaku's news integrity.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

You'd think being in TV they'd understand demographics. That's why you never see commercials for Barbie's Dream Home while watching Heroes on NBC late-night, why you never see video game commercials on HGTV, and why you won't see that ad before 11pm on network TV. They filmed two versions of that, but of course they won't mention that on The O'Reily Factor.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

HEY! This is the no-spin zone! If they went on to mention there were two ads, well, they consider that a spin! And there's no spins in the O'Reilly Factor! Everything he says, yells, slams out on his desk in Morse Code as he belittles the victim liberal meatbag, tearing into any of those anti-American bastards like the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog, is absolutely, one-hundred percent, unquestionably true. He is the only unbiased media dog in the US, everyone else is too liberally biased, even Fox News.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

Anyone who bitches about seeing Hedi Klum in lingerie has no right to call themself a man.

I find it funny that the one lady asks him if he every played guitar hero and he responds with "I don't even know what it is".

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

Considering I've had some friends tell me. "If I was straight I'd hit that." agreed.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

Thats not the one they are showing on prime time TV.

The one they show during primetime, she never removes the shirt.

That is the one they are showing late at night around 11 pm.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

I think Brokenscope is right. I've never seen the full commercial on during primetime. In fact, I doubt you'd see any Guitar Hero commercial on a family-oriented channel during primetime.

And the only thing that would have made this incident better would be if they showed a Guitar Hero commercial during the next break.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

Dude... Bill O'Reilly would euthanize the weighted companion cube if given half a chance...

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

I don't know... I murdered the cube pretty darn quick (of course I cried for several hours later)

Yes and faster than any test subject on record.

On topic, was anyone else reminded of Bill Hicks' "Drink Coke" bit after reading this?

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

The ultimate commercial if they could ever get away with it.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

Sluuurp sluuurp Oh yeah. I love it.

Oh wait, that was his George Michaels impression :) The drink coke was the naked woman with the logo :D

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

Yet, they show it on TV. I thought the news was suppose to be family friendly

Come on, that's par for the course with Fox News.  They broadcast raunchy stuff under the guise of criticizing it.  Remember Fox News Porn (Possibly NSFW)?

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

I don't even think they're showing that one on tv.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

Oh my god!  A woman appears in lingerie in a commercial!  What will happen next?!

Good thing he has never seen the victoria secrets commercials that happen all the time during prime time.

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

I just had to laugh! Not at Bill O'Reilly, but at the commercial.

Is it for Guitar Hero or Victoria Secret? It shows almost no footage from the actual game, plays one song, and she's not even playing it properly! Sex does sell...

I think Bill is right on ONE account though: Heidi needs to cut back on the caffeine! LOL!

Re: Bill O'Reilly Whines About Heidi Klum's Guitar Hero

The thing that surprises me is that in this case, it's a male (well, I'm loathe to refer to O'Reilly as a man, but apparently his gender is male, so I'll go with that) whining about it, and the women aren't.

Usually, guys would be complaining that it doesn't happen often enough, while some shrew will be whining about how it exploits women (nevermind the fact that sexual exploitation goes both ways and is never necessarily a forced condition, given the choices of clothing some make to wear).

Is it just opposite day?

Wonderkarpyep. but they werent bebop and rocksteady yet. so technically i'm right :P01/28/2015 - 5:00pm
E. Zachary KnightBebop and Rocksteady have already been introduced in the human forms. They were the duo after Shredder's helmet.01/28/2015 - 4:55pm
Wonderkarpmy only complaint is no bluray boxed season sets yet. WTF Nickelodian!01/28/2015 - 4:42pm
Wonderkarpthe voice acting and story telling quality are awesome. Its like they took everything that was great about the original show, and Batman Animated Series'd it but kept it funny too01/28/2015 - 4:41pm
WonderkarpIts Awesome. Bebop and Rocksteady are going to debut this weekend. The new take is Bebop is a thief while Rocksteady is an arms dealer. took 3 seasons to get them on the show.01/28/2015 - 4:41pm
Goth_SkunkAhh! I see. I'm afraid I'm too invested in Game of Thrones, The Newsroom, The Walking Dead, and Hemlock Grove to notice the new TMNT on TV. :(01/28/2015 - 4:40pm
E. Zachary KnightMy kids love watching the 90's TMNT movies. They love the new TMNT cartoon on Nick. Yet, none of them really enjoyed the the new one.01/28/2015 - 4:39pm
Wonderkarpexecution and if there is a real wanting for something new on the big screen. There is somewhat of a wanting for new Ghostbusters on the big screen, but most people seem to agree that the new film shares little with ghostbusters beyond its original premis01/28/2015 - 4:38pm
Wonderkarpadding homages to classic via good storytelling. The new TMNT movie was just a crappy Bayformers affair that did nothing to develop character, with a mishmash of a story. Nerd Culture can accept new takes on older franchises. It just depends on the01/28/2015 - 4:37pm
Wonderkarpactually, Goth_Skunk, TMNT is a thriving TV show on Nickelodian which has enough old and new storytelling to create a thriving new product. its in its 3rd season and it just gets better as a show. The CGI Show is universally praised for being new yet01/28/2015 - 4:36pm
Goth_SkunkI propose that the new TMNT movie was not about making nostalgic adult nerds smile, but introducing the franchise to a new generation of younger fans. And some of those fans may even be kids of the nerds that grew up with the original TMNT.01/28/2015 - 3:55pm
Goth_Skunk...disservice to the franchise. But when I look at it, I see a franchise fanbase that, the last time anything major happened in the franchise, all its fans were kids. Those kids have now all grown up and are adults.01/28/2015 - 3:54pm
Goth_SkunkRemember how Escapists new EIC was talking about nerd culture being "curmudgeonly?" This ties right into that as well. These people I talked with complained about how the new TMNT wasn't being true to its roots and because of that it was doing a great...01/28/2015 - 3:53pm
Goth_SkunkTake TMNT for example: I recently watched the new movie, and I thought it was decent. But a lot of people I've talked with who grew up in the 80's and 90's on the TV show, the video games, and thecollectible toys all unanimously seem to think it's trash.01/28/2015 - 3:52pm
Goth_SkunkRe: Ghostbusters, I don't care if it's a reboot or a sequel, I'm just happy to see another Ghostbusters movie. But it's fascinating to hear people in our age demographic talk nostalgicly about the things we grew up watching or reading.01/28/2015 - 3:51pm
WonderkarpI have a GBA. I dont need to buy virtual console gba games.01/28/2015 - 3:11pm
MonteI wouldn't care about running emulators on the 3DS if nintendo would just release more virtual console games. There are so many titles they could have up but don't. Seriously, its ridiclous that after 3 years they STILL haven't released GBA titles.01/28/2015 - 3:06pm
