State Department Official Meets with Egyptian Students in Second Life

January 12, 2009 -

New World Notes reports that State Depatment official James Glassman (in avatar form at left) will hold a virtual meeting with student journalists in Cairo this morning.

Among other issues, Glassman, who serves as Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, is expected to field questions about the current Israeli-Hamas conflict in Gaza.

DIP's Dispatches from the Imagination Age reports that USAID is funding the event.

No Second Life account? Catch the video simulcast.

UPDATE: DIP has a video of the event.

Re: State Department Official Meets with Egyptian Students in

I got a Second Life account but... um, I don't use it to replace my every day needs. Still, this is got to be kind of nice for the students but he couldn't meet them in real life?

Ah well. Whatever works but... I just use Second Life to role play in a Final Fantasy sim I hang out at from time to time. That's it. If I'm going anywhere like church, or wanting to see the real thing? I'm going outside my house.

Andrew EisenSleaker - No. No, not even remotely. The pic attached to my tweet was not made by me; it's not a statement I'm making. It's the complete misunderstanding of the issue I'm commenting on.09/01/2014 - 3:13pm

Andrew EisenSleaker - Seems completely cut and dry to me (of course, I wrote it so that's not surprising). What about it do you find confusing?09/01/2014 - 2:25pm
