Circuit City is No More

March 9, 2009 -

Gizmodo reports that Circuit City has slipped quietly into that retail good night.

Individual stores of the bankrupt retailer spent their final hours over the weekend selling off their remaining merchandise and then even getting what they could for their empty shelves.

Re: Circuit City is No More

I feel bad for the tens of thousands of people who are now jobless.

I'm royally pi**ed at the executive management of the company who will probably walk away from this with millions and be courted to run some other company into the ground while again walking away with millions.

On the other hand I feel bad for the executives too. Can you imagine not being able to get a new BMW every year? Some of them might even have to sell their summer homes. Oh, the humanity.

I went into my local CC store every weekend. Not once did I see a price I couldn't have gotten lower elsewhere. It still amazes me that people were lining up to buy merchandise they could have gotten cheaper elsewhere.

Re: Circuit City is No More

Every once in a while they had some seriously awesome game sales, $5 each. There's a lot I'll snag for that little. I think the last one we were at a few years ago, I got 23 games.

But in general? Prices weren't worth it, often had stuff above list (so did Comp-USA), staff was unhelpful.

Whelp, good thing that Best Buy was just built near the Circut City, otherwise where would we have to go for our big box electronic store needs? Wait? I think I smell conspiracy! Best Buy has been planning this coup all along!

Re: Circuit City is No More

Ironicly a Best Buy was built in my mall, which was across the street from Circuit City.

Re: Circuit City is No More

CC should have died a long time ago.  The fact they dragged out their death this long was amazing.

Re: Circuit City is No More

I wonder what my old CC manager is doing? Probably sitting behind the building, drinking a quart of Mad Dog, muttering to himself "False advertising is bad. Employee mistreatment is bad. DIVX was a bad idea..."

Re: Circuit City is No More

Well then, as long as they didn't go gentle into that good night, everything's just fine.

Re: Circuit City is No More

Selling your very shelves probably counts as raging.

Neo_DrKefkaOnly good thing I seen come out of the Biddle incident was the fact a professional fighter offered to give 10k to an anti bullying charity for a round in the ring with Biddle.10/19/2014 - 7:49pm
Neo_DrKefkaEven after all the interviews she is still on twitter making fun of people with disabilities (Autism) yet she is a part of the crowd that is on the so called right side of history...10/19/2014 - 7:48pm
Neo_DrKefkaWhich #GameGate supports are constantly being harassed and bullied. Brianna Wu who I told everyone she was trolling GamerGate weeks ago with her passive aggressive threats was looking for that crazy person in the crowd.10/19/2014 - 7:47pm
Neo_DrKefkaI believe the problem #GamerGate has with Sam Biddle is he is apart of this blogging group that in a way hates or detests its readers. Also being apart of the crowd that claims its on the right side of history isn't helping when he is advocating bullying10/19/2014 - 7:45pm
MechaTama31Of course, I'm looking at these tweets in isolation, I don't know a thing about the guy.10/19/2014 - 7:06pm
MechaTama31If anything, the sarcastic implication seems to be that the SJW crowd is bringing back the bullying of nerds. But it's the GGers who are out for his blood? I'm lost...10/19/2014 - 7:01pm
MechaTama31I don't really get this Sam Biddle thing. The reaction to his tweets seems to be taking them at face value, but... they're tongue in cheek. Right?10/19/2014 - 7:00pm
