BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack Thompson's Appeal

April 20, 2009 -

Without comment, the U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear Jack Thompson's appeal of his lifetime disbarment.

The justices considered Thompson's argument as well as dozens of other cases during their private conference on Friday. The Court's rejection of Thompson's appeal can be found in today's list of orders. Mention of Thompson's case is limited to a single line under a long list of cases for which the Court declined to grant Certiorari.

The Supreme Court's decision almost certainly ends Thompson's fight to have his permanent disbarment overturned. As GamePolitics reported, the anti-game activist was disbarred for life by the Florida Supreme Court in September of 2008 for 27 counts of professional misconduct.

We have contacted Thompson for comment but have not yet received a response.

UPDATE: Thompson comments:

No surprise...

In response to [GamePolitics'] speculation that "the... decision almost certainly ends Thompson's fight to have his permanent disbarment overturned," - Not at all. I have four more options, all better than this one.  This was the longest of shots.  All four of the others are much, much shorter shots.  Stay tuned.  As Winston Churchill implored:  "Never give in.  Never, never, never, never, never."

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

I honestly can't see him giving a response.

My reasoning is that in the past, there was always something for him to fall back on. If his law wasn't passed, then the one planned for the next state certainly would, and then we'd all be sorry!

When his lawsuits fell through, there was always the next one that would vindicate him completely, and then we'd be sorry!

When the bar complaints began to be acted on, his arguments about the silly loyalty oath were going to crush the bar and cause them massive problems, and then we'd be sorry.

When he was disbarred, he was going to get the Supreme Court itself to intervene and get his licence back, and then we'd be sorry!

Now that this final avenue of action has turned out to be a dead end, there's nothing for him to fall back on. And now poor old Jack is sorry...

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

Uhh, he did responded. Wacko Jacko want's his law license back no matter what gets in his way(What a moron Jackiepoo is)

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

I see his next response being an attempt to take down those who have "wronged" him by suing them into oblivion.  If he can't win, then no one can win.

The trick will be finding a lawyer that will represent him.

Jack Thompson is to the video game industry as the Washington Generals are to the Harlem Globetrotters.

It looks like the Supreme Court were watching what JT was doing in Utah.  Take that, JT.  Looks like the Supreme Court of the USA is added to his conspiracy list.  I hope JT doesn't end up becoming a radical right-winged member.  I've been hearing a lot about it on the Supreme Court.  Hope this doesn't happen to him.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Most likely they denied it as being without merit since it is a state issue not a federal one.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Just Utah? Jack's got a pile worth of files and reports about his bad behavior.  Even without Utah, all the stuff he did in Florida and Louisiana would have been enough to tell the SCOTUS to keep him disbarred forever.

Such is the way a career ends, not with glory, but what amounts to as a footnote.  Oh that has to sting the ego something fierce.

Look on the brightside John Bruce.   This is something else to add to your list, ie:  How you were on TV and we were not, or on the news and we were not.  Now you were on the denied list and we were not.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Well, his name may wind up in law textbooks, albeit when describing ways to effectively scuttle your career.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Oh, the Epic Win on this is just plain.... Epic!!!

The crying and whining of the Metropolitian Moron of Miami over this latest setback will be epic.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

He's got them right where he wants them.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

Now that was full of win.

This is the piece of news I've been waiting for all this time.  It's nice to see people like Jack Boy get the full, complete, unequivocal comeuppance they deserve.

On his supporters turning their backs on him: Jack keeps attacking his own friends because they don't tolerate how he abuses his relationship with them in his crusade.  He instantly drops their names and acts as if he represents them and their authority (including high-leveled government officials)- only to have them distance themselves when he goes out of line.  It's amazing how Jack doesn't get that simple part of common courtesy.

Well, so much for that...

I think we are nearly going to need Miltary Grade earplugs because of JT is gonna scream so much it'll be heard throuought america

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

He may well be heard throughout america, but that still doesn't mean anyone will care

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Sadly, I don't think even THIS particular setback is going to make clear to him that he is in fact wrong.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

If Jesus Christ himself walked across the waters of Miami Bay,  turned water into wine in front of him, and then told Jack he was being a jerk, and they had a right to disbar him... well Jack might, just MIGHT take a hint then.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

no... he'll simply call him a fake.

if you hadn't noticed, JT lashes out at any who disagrees with him even on the slightest thing. He's always right and the rest of the world is wrong.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

I figure three miracles before we get a MIGHT,  i don't know what it'd take to get him to see the reality.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Maybe if Jesus threw Jack into Hell?

Just a thought, but that might work.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

well.. what he's fighting for isn't exactly wrong.. maybe it is.. maybe it isn't

it's the fact that he act like a complete jerk/idiot/moron/BABY is the main problem.

and time and time again he DOESN'T/NEVER/REFUSE to get it.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Will this make any difference to Jack's supporters?   Probably not.  He will see this as only a minor setback, after he bitches a bit.  It is like his Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind.  And then, of course,  SCOTUS will be incahoots with us gamers and the liberal media blah..blah...blah...blah.

given what happened in Utah and Louisiana? Does he even have any supporter left?

I mean... even his previous supporters are giving him the boot!

and speaking of minor setbacks... how many is it already? how many IN A CHAIN...?

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

After what he did in Utah he pretty much dosen't have supporters(Utah eagle forum distanced themselves after JT contuned to post that racy pic)

I'm sure he has a few delusional supporters left (just a few, mind you).

Wait wait wait, I gotta hear this again, the Eagle Forum has even abandoned him?

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

I, too, would love confirmation of this - I know we haven't heard much from the forum since the veto, but I didn't know they were actively distancing themselves from him (as opposed to just keeping quiet)

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Indeed, I would love to hear this. Even Gargoyle Ruzicka has left him. At least he's not running wild without her.

Chrono Trigger DS joke. Mother Brain (not from Metroid) and Melphyx (or Retinite in CT SNES)would "run wild" when they're all that's left (MB with no Displays and Melphyx without the core) out of what the battle began with.

Another Epic FAIL! Brought to you by Jack Thompson!

http://www.magicinkgaming.com/

And a light parted from the heavens shining upon us....

We stared into it, knowing full well that we were faith and that a sense of justice had been served for us....

Meanwhile as Jack Thompson searched the sky for his light, a giant fist came upon him, smashing him into the ground and a voice said: UNACCEPTABLE.

When god gives you lemons Jack, your response is to squeze the juice on everyone's eles eyes rather than on yourself. Now that we are wearing protective goggles, what are you going to do? ABSOLULTY POSTIVELY NOTHING!

Heheh, how do you like those apples?

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Oh well, So much for Thompson getting his chance to become a lawyer again. But does this mean he can't be a lawyer in another state, or just Florida? I forget. Plus I'm sure he'll find other places to support him like Utah and Louisiana, although untill I find out he's lost support with Gale Ruzicka and her Eagle Forum, I won't count Utah out just yet.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Technically he could go to another state and pass their Bar exam, but given the Lifetime Dis-Barment in Florida it is unlikely he would be admitted to practice law even if he did pass another State's Bar.
