They catch bullets in their mouths (or pretend to) in their live show in Vegas (which I've seen).

Debates are like merry go rounds. Two people take their positions then they go through the same points over and over and over again. Then when it's over they have the same positions they started in.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

Penn also used to do voiceover work for Comedy Central. He was the guy who would do the "Coming up next on Comedy Central..." stuff. Someone help me out, is that show promos or what?

You live under a rock? =P They've been around for quite a long time...

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

This was the best episode of Penn & Teller: Bullshit! that I've ever seen. I couldn't stop laughing at Jack Thompson.

I feel bad for the kid, though.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

I beg to differ. Pathetic.

Not that I disagree with this episode; I think we all agree on the violence-in-games argument. But how they portayed it was amateurish. Cheap shots, lame opponents, weak opposing arguments. I could have done better than that.

Penn & Teller are illusionists, not journalists. If anything, they made us look worse.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

I don't see how it made us look worse, Penn and Teller are not gamers, and if they are they don't advertise it to the public. It's their show, their writing and this isn't the first time they talked about subjects they don't have a personal stake in.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

I wouldn't say it harmed us as such, but, certainly, it's rare that Jack Thompson comes up against someone more capable of spewing abuse and insults than he is.

Personally, I think the statement about college football summed it up in a nutshell, like or loathe Video Games, if you imagined they were old and football was new, you can just image what people would be saying about football, and yet, because it is old and established, it is accepted.

"lame opponents, weak opposing arguments."

So in other words the anti-gaming crowd in a nutshell?

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

Don't under-estimate them.

I've been in a few anti-gaming debates, and it's not as easy as it looks (certainly not as easy as P&T made it look). Anti-gamers are not stupid. Subversive, despicable, and underhanded, yes. But not stupid.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

More or less. If you take away 'interactivity will desensitize them to violence faster' all their arguments have been parroted verbatim over the years, just applied to something else.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

I beg to differ. It was a good episode. The issue is very huge, and easily it could give enough material for an entire season. Videogames haters like Jack and the Triangle Guy are by definition LAME, biased and stupid. They can´t get Hillary Clinton because I don´t think she would let them to bash her.

Penn and Teller maybe aren´t journalist, but they have the right to talk about the issue because they at least they check and are loyal to their opinions.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

Thompson, you knew had to be in there. I've never heard of this Cooney guy. Where's Glen Beck? Where's Gov. Swartzenneggar? Where's Col. Grossman? Where's Dr. Walsh?

They didn't even try. It's like, "Why didn't P&T pick on someone their own size?" They didn't even try to set up a counter argument. They never do. When you agree, it sounds so logical. When you don't, you see right through it.

My point is, this isn't going to change anyone's mind. Those that agree, still agree. Those that don't are going to watch just to prove them wrong. P&T aren't trying to convince anyone. It's all about the ratings.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

Glenn Fail already has his own soapbox to spout his stupidity on american TV, so he doesn´t need to be bashed in another show. Swartzenneggar is a politician, I don´t think he will risk to get bashed. We have years without hearing about Grossman because many others have taken his place. Walsh surely would be a better subject, but the same way, I highly doubt he would accepted to appear in Showtime because the nature of the show.

Let´s face it: any of the persons you mentioned would do anything better than the Triangle-Guy. None of them. The buttom of their arguments are simple this: GAMEZ ARE EVILZ... period.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

Really?  I thought this episode was kind of lame compared to some of their other ones.  Not as funny, the cheap shots were particularly cheap, and they just kind of danced around from point to point without making any of them very well.  But still, hopefully it gets people thinking about just how irrational the anti-game nuts are being.

Re: Game Violence Episode of Penn & Teller B.S. on YouTube

Woulda been nice if there was some display that not all video games are shooty shooty violent, as this is the misconception alot of people have.

MechaTama31I mean, of the groups being bullied here, which of the two would you refer to collectively as "nerds"?10/19/2014 - 11:30pm
MechaTama31But that's the thing, it doesn't sound to me like he is advocating bullying, it sounds like he is accusing the SJWs of bullying the "nerds", who I can only assume refers to the GGers.10/19/2014 - 11:21pm

Neo_DrKefkaI believe the problem #GamerGate has with Sam Biddle is he is apart of this blogging group that in a way hates or detests its readers. Also being apart of the crowd that claims its on the right side of history isn't helping when he is advocating bullying10/19/2014 - 7:45pm
MechaTama31Of course, I'm looking at these tweets in isolation, I don't know a thing about the guy.10/19/2014 - 7:06pm
