The “Killer Game Drive” put on by Aktionsbündnis Amoklauf Winnenden over this past weekend appears to have been a relative failure.
The group was attempting to get people to come and toss “killer games” into a dumpster, and, well, while the Action Alliance did have a huge, graffiti-laden repository, let’s just say that it probably didn’t take them hours to empty it.
From pictures posted online of the event, it appears that just three games made it into the dumpster: a copy of Grand Theft Auto, Small Soldiers for the Game Boy Advance and one other unknown title.

What you guys fail to realize is that actually there were thousands of games bought and thrown away by extremists! But.... There were also a ton of people in the dumpsters that salvaged and ran away with free games. :)

This is frickin' hilarious, these assclowns problably expected 100% that the damn dumpster would be overflowing but in JT like fashion they deny reality and act like their dumb little event was a huge success. Which is why they want to continue it in other cities. It's ridiculous to see the container almost empty. To add insult to injury, two of the three games still have the shrink wrap on them indicating that they were bought and thrown in by the organizers. The only legitamately thrown in game was the small soldiers cartridge. And even that seems like it was thrown in only because the owner didn't want it anymore.

You know, this would have been A LOT less embarrassing if they had bought a garbage can instead of a super container... really, that massive empty container at the end of the day only serves to emphasize how big of a failure this whole thing was

That is not a copy of small soldiers for the GBA. That is small soldiers for the Game boy color. GBA games are about half that size.

What? Small Soldiers was thrown into that dumpster?
The entire movies message was to *value* your toys, and that war ... is good for absolutely nothing. Why'd you throw away a game in which you battle lifeless toy-enemies anyway.

What were they expecting though, games are not nearly as cheap as books.

Peh, one game NO ONE remembers based on a kid's movie, another game hardly anyone remembers, and a game that went off sale save for digital distribution a long time ago.
Wow, just wow... I guess anyone with a brain knew they'd be getting a raw deal. I mean a fav game for a football/soccer jersey? Please.

Apperently some Kotaku commentators are saying that the mass media is trying to downplay the drive by a magnitude of 12. They said there were at least two dozen games with several copies of counter-strike. Erm... Last I checked you can have my copy of Counter Strike because it's locked onto steam and I can't get it out even if I wanted to.
What's even more lulzy is that the two PS2 games you see, Def Jam and San Andreas still has the packaging foil over them, which suggests that these guys bought them and put them in there to make it seem less pathetic somehow.

Actually, that there are two dozen games including several copies of counter-strike is a mass media claim. The same mass media that staged some games being thrown in, because there were no real participants there to film. If anything, it's the mass media that are trying to downplay the complete failure of the event.
I certainly didn't see dozens of games in any picture of that container, I only saw the claim made in the audio to video footage, that was proven to be staged and quite suspiciously didn't show the inside of the container.

Sorry for the sentence structure. I know that wasn't as clear as it was supposed to be. I ment that the mass media (intentionally) miscalculated the number of games by a magnitude of 12, saying there were several copies of counter strike and at least 24 games showed up. When in reality there was only 3 games, 2 were placed there in new packaging.

24 games would constitute a "relative failure" too. They advertised this event over a large region, and considering how dense Germany is, 24 games is nothing compared to how many people knew about it.
Whether it's 3 or 24, it's still a failure.

I'll bet that the people who did chuck games picked games they didn't want anymore and tossed them in solely for a chance at that jersey; nobody did it as an ideological protest.

The other Title was Def Jam Fight for NY.
GTA and Def Jam (both still sealed) were brought along by a camera team.
The leader of the "Action Alliance" said that they were only collecting gams that have been develpoed by the US Army. This shows that they don't even know what they are talking about.

The "leader" is just giving excuses to try to explain his massive amount of fail to everybody. That event was a waste of time for everybody and a waste of neurons. It was like big and loud birthday party that no one came and the celebrated was left alone with a cake, no gifts and his birthday cake.

Good on Germany, stupid idea in the first place, just because something has happened that upsets you as a parent, doesn't mean you can go casting around looking for 'new fangled' stuff to blame. Years ago 'Rock'n'Roll destroyed families', nowadays it's just another scape-goat with all the same accusations.

Wow...3 games?, Looks like there is a bleak of hope after all and some of germany's gamer pop stuck to their guns...I mean dumping a game for a lousy shirt from something that causes actual violence.
