The Entertainment Consumers Association (ECA) has launched a drive to get gamers to notify government representatives of their support for a pair of bills that would make gaming a little greener.
S.1397, or the Electronic Device Recycling Research and Development Act, would research ways to deal with the proper disposal of electronic devices, while S.1696, or the Green Gaming Act of 2009, would require the Secretary of Energy to conduct a study of videogame consoles energy efficiency.
The ECA’s letter states:
While I enjoy spending some of my free time playing video games, I also would like my hobby to be “greener,” and these bills would both help to that end. Both S. 1397 and S. 1696 are needed steps to insure that my hobby of video games continues to improve as an environmentally sensitive hobby.
Participants can input their information and send off a letter to their Senator via a simple form on the ECA website.

Re: ECA Backs Green Gaming, Launches Action
Well I see like this, if we as gamers want to see more games & consoles come out in the future & futuristic models then we have to get greener about our consoles. So that way we can keep playing more games & have more fun before all the earth's resources are used up! Lol. (Being sarcastic funny.) :D

Wow, what a waste of time.

I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
Re: ECA Backs Green Gaming, Launches Action
No joke. Like I said, ACTA seems like it should be getting some real focus, instead of wasting time on this.
Re: ECA Backs Green Gaming, Launches Action
There has to be a way to reveal what the ACTA would do to us if it passes
But we also have to worry about expanding to green gaming as well

Re: ECA Backs Green Gaming, Launches Action
While I don't mind being green, I think that it's bullshit if anyone think's they're saving the planet by having a green video game console, considering the fact that televisions usually use about twice the power of a video game console, good surround sound systems use ten times the electricity, and the internet, on which a lot of gamers play, uses an astronomical amount of energy to keep up.
"Green Gaming" is more than just consoles. A viable Net Neutrality bill, combined with a true green electronics bill (not just gaming consoles), is only a start.
