The man behind the Gamers4Croydon party (formed to knock South Australian Attorney General Michael Atkinson out of office) recently gave an interview to the Sydney Morning Herald.
One clarification to come out of the chat—30 year old David Doe will not run himself against Atkinson. He is simply taking the steps to get the party formed, then will look for an appropriate candidate to take on the incumbent.
Doe stated:
As a registered voter of Victoria, I cannot run in the South Australian state election. We'll be finding a local candidate by holding a party caucus once Gamers4Croydon has been officially registered by the SA Electoral Commission.
Doe on what his “dream scenario” one year from now would entail:
A Gamers4Croydon member sitting in the House of Assembly as the member for the SA electoral seat of Croydon for a start, with another member sitting in the SA Legislative Council. Having all parents in Australia knowing how to use the parental controls found in their home consoles. Having an R18+ rating for videogames implemented, thereby giving parents the ability to correctly determine the type of content they are purchasing for their children, and giving adults the right to play adult-oriented material.

The only way someone will be able to win against Askinson next year in his seat is someone who can convince the people of Croydon that they have better plans and offer better change in the future.
Like trying to run an election of trying to allow an R18+ rating for Videogames alone, will not be something that can win you the seat for Croydon, but trying to run for something similar that is equally about the freedom of speech and expression for any artform, like trying to expand music in Croydon or expand the ability for people to walk on public playgrounds without the council getting in the way with red tape and that.
Most common people don't like it how the council get in their way of something they really like to enjoy in peace.
Maybe allow Homosexuals the right to be married will be a more controversial one but something that can attract a whole lot more value from freedom of speech groups and deffinately anger the Attorney General Michael Atkinson that could perhaps allow people to know what sort of goose he really is about something that he has no understanding about.
Or maybe use some sort of prommise that will allow Bikies to be protected against discrimination from the public after every time you hear about a Bikie bashing, the media always blames the bikie culture and not look at the real problems like drugs or money and power that might be more of the cause of the violence in the first place.
Mr Atkinson has shown that he is very much closed minded and nobody has ever challenged him on something that really had hurted his position.
You need to find his waterloo before you can win against a powerful opponent.

I'm sure Atkinson has a host of other reasons he should be out of office aside from believing he knows how to raise other parent's children better than the parents themselves.

Maybe he should start mentioning stuff like that in his actual interviews instead of relying on others to mention it for him. Jackass or not Atkinson can and already is running rings round him.
