Just in time for the holiday shopping season, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has released an iPhone application that allows users to search the ESRB for videogame information.
In addition to showing a game’s rating, the app also details rating descriptors and provides a full explanation of the content in the title. Game summaries date back to July 1, 2008.
To back the launch of the application, the ESRB has also debuted a new Public Service Announcement.
ESRB president Patricia Vance added, “This new rating search app puts all this information at parents’ fingertips when they need it most, right at the store. It’s a powerful tool that will help assure parents that the games they give as gifts are not only fun but also appropriate for their children.”

The mother in that video was foolish.
"Yep, don’t want my kids seeing robots explode. Exploding is wrong, robots should be treated like humans, etc." Silly nillys.
Re: ESRB Launches iPhone Ratings App
I'd still like to see 1 or 2 computer kiosks in retail stores, most notably in specialty stores like Gamestop and others, that allow you to access direct reviews (customer reviews as well as professional reviews) and descriptions (more than what's usually on the box) of the games (and probably for other media like movies, books, etc for other specialty stores).
A lot of folks do impulse buying. And many don't have internet on their phones. So having access to that information right there where the product is would be useful.
Naturally, the access to information would be limited to specific high profile sites (Gamespot, Amazon, etc). That way, you don't have people fooling around with the computers just for the heck of it. Even if it's the shop's own site, it would be helpful. But I'd still like to have access to the customer reviews, which I put in higher regard than the professional reviews.

Anyone who has trouble understanding "sexual themes, violence" and what that might entail is probably not gonna cope any better with longer sentences.

You're implying that most people in America are actually willing to do something OTHER than give their kids whatever the fuck they want.
