Sesame Street Games Coming to Consoles

January 13, 2010

Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment has inked a deal with Sesame Workshop in order to publish a series of games for videogame consoles based on the long running children’s television show.

While Sesame Street was, for a time, featured in a slew of games, the last title to be issued featuring Sesame Street content was back in 2001, in a title called Sesame Street Sports that was developed by Bonsai Entertainment.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment SVP of Marketing Russell Arons stated:

There's a big open hole in the market. This is the first generation of parents who grew up as gamers. Unlike prior generations where people weren't sure of the value of video games, these are people who know there's value and fun for the whole family.

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms are expected to be targeted with the new games.

oh I could tell you what kind of gaping hole and what drops out of it -_- but Id probably have to sensor it here.

Re: Sesame Street Games Coming to Consoles

I have a good idea for a game from a different TV network.

You are playing a game from the family learning channel, this game is called "My Spoon is Too Big"

I am sure people will like my idea.

How many will be centered around Elmo?

When Jack Thompson runs his mouth, does anyone really care what he has to say anymore?

Chances are that every single of them... he know were you live.

Jack Thompson complaining how video games are perverting minors now using Sesame Street in 3... 2... 1... and... oh, wait. This is not 2007 anymore.

*goes to home ashamed*

I think Sesame Streed had some videogames for NES, but I don´t remember quite well. They never were my favorites.

They had a couple games for the PS1 I faintly remember.

Yes, people are just CRYING out for shitty tie-in games for childrens television shows.

"Unlike prior generations where people weren't sure of the value of video games, these are people who know there's value and fun for the whole family."

We also know it's a damn good idea to stay WAY away from games based on movies and tv shows. Except for Chronicles of Riddick:Escape from Butcher Bay. That game kicked ASS.

Re: Sesame Street Games Coming to Consoles

You obviously don't have kids. I don't have problems finding games for me, but when it comes to my 3 year old, I don't think she's ready for hardcore stuff. Even a lot of E games are too complex (we've tried). But There aren't a lot of EC games out there, which would be great for someone who can't even read yet. Now as for the tie-in, she doesn't care if it's shovelware, and personally, neither do I, because I don't have to play it! She'll grow out of it soon enough.

Re: Sesame Street Games Coming to Consoles

I have to agree with you there. A lot of the "E" rated games are complex and small kids have a hard time understanding them. At least my five year old has enjoyed all the games I have bought him. He only like racing games like Motor Storm Pacific Rift and Monster Jam.

Re: Sesame Street Games Coming to Consoles

heh, been a while since I saw this. I still have a really old Sesame street game cartridge for the NES.

One was a goofy spelling game and the other a goof maze game.

Re: Sesame Street Games Coming to Consoles

Goofy is not Sesame Street.
