Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

March 23, 2010 -

Guys looking for a female to game with are in luck, as long as they have a few bucks.

A new service called GameCrush is launching today and boasts a roster of around 1,200 available ladies to game with reports IGN. Guys, called Players, can browse online profiles of the girls, dubbed PlayDates, who can set their moods to “flirty” or dirty.” $8.25 will by you 500 credits, or enough—with tip—for a 10-minute Xbox Live session.

The same fee will buy you six minutes of play in a Flash-based casual game for the PC, which is embedded in the GameCrush website. The price is higher for the PC service because the girls will video chat with a Player while the game goes on, versus the audio only Xbox Live service.

The service is limited to those 18 years of age and over and the PlayMates will have the right to refuse, or block, anyone of their choosing. Currently supported Xbox Live games include call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Gears of War 2, Grand Theft Auto IV and Halo 3. The service expects to expand to the PS3 and World of Warcraft in the future.

The girls get to keep 60.0 percent of the money they bring in. GameCrush says it modeled the service’s pricing to be consistent with the price of buying a girl a drink in a bar.

Can you get your money back if she's lousy at Borderlands and keeps getting you killed? ^_

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Just to let all of you guys on here know that this service is exactly like contacting the 1-800 numbers where the ladies speak on their profiles for free, while the men get a free 15 min. session and then have to pay to talk to the ladies. Lol.

I agree w/yall on here, that this will make money. I just find it stereotypical of the site to think that guy gamers would not have gf's or girls to talk to just to go this extreme w/playing/finding a female gamer. & I think that the girls will be making money and won't be considered as "female gamers". So it sounds like false hope. & that's bad. Very bad. But the guy gamers that go on there and pay to talk and play games w/girls literally do have sad and pathetic lives.

Thank you for informing us about what we had already worked out several hours and 30-odd posts before you entered the discussion.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Well, a lot of guys pay for webcam services already where every 10 minutes they're stopped just short of what they were hoping to see.

This is just targeted at a different market, and the guys know exactly what they're paying for.

I think whoever would pay that sort of rate for a game on the internet is a moron, personally... but it's their money they can spend it how they want.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

I wonder how I get my wife into this line of work... about $28 per hour for gaming? Not a bad gig.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Judging by the amount of interest I got when I went onto PS Home (the one time to check it out) with a female avatar I imagine that this service will do very well.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Kudos to the guy who came up with the business model though, it's genius.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Last November one of my friends was upset at the news that I had no intentions of buying Borderlands do to lack of funds, meaning he'd be stuck with pubbers trying to play through the game. Both of us agreed it would be gay for him to just buy the game for me, so we instead came to an arrangement where he'd treat me to a redicuously manly meat buffet in Philadelphia's gayberhood. The street address being 1337 ChestNut st.

True story.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

On the scheme of whoring oneself out, it pays less than regular prostitution I'd imagine but it's a lot less messy/less chance of getting robbed-murdered-raped-left in a ditch.  If the girls and the company can make money out of idiots, g'luck to em.

Nothing wrong with it when there are entire industries built around the 'fools + money + ???? = profit' principle.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

So, it's an escort service. For online accounts. Wow, this is just sad and hilarious! The real funny and sad thing is that this could actually work! I can see this as something that could make some serious profit!

However, unlike the bar, this'll lack any human contact in any way and nothing can come of the "date". Good deal.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

The saddest part of it: this will probably work. It will probably bring in a lot of money. There's just no shortage of lonely pathetic losers out there. If phone sex lines can make money, this can.

I hope I'm wrong. I really do.

Only when you buy a girl a drink in a bar there's at least the possibility of more than just hanging out for 10 minutes chatting.  Like maybe dancing, or going out for coffee sometime (which is considerably cheaper and lasts longer).

My guess is that they are preyong on the hope that if the two play together she might like the guy and desire contact outside the service, so they are playing matchmaker.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

$8.25 for 10 minutes?  I'll spend my cash on a strip club, thank you very much.

Or I'll just ask my wife to play L4D with me.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Something tells me this service was never designed to be targeted towards you.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

I'll be blunt. Get a prostitute.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Prostitutes are cheaper and you get more out of it.

There are places with legal prostitution, where the prostitutes don't have diseases.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Indeed, as mentioned above.  But would it really be cheaper?

Andrew Eisen

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Cheaper than 4 hours on this thing without any actual gratification? Nope. More satisfying? Yes.

At times like these I love my country. I can go out, grab my bike, ride 15 minutes to the red area in town, and go if I'd like.

*Google*

Huh, look at that.  They've even got a reality series.  Safer as far as diseases and jail time?  Appears so.  Cheaper?  Doubtful, especially if you don't live near Carson City.

This is pretty sad haha.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

Jesus fucking christ, this is pathetic. At least, the idiots that may actually USE this "service" are, anyway.

GP should have taken the high road and not dignified this with the free advertising. (It WAS free right?)

Kotaku reported on that first before GP did.  Darksaber, there are many gamers that are good looking.  I believe some of our hottest celebrities play video game.  I believe some of our current teen idol play video game also.

Re: Pay for Play Female Gaming Service Set to Launch

And what, exactly, does anything after your bit about Kotaku have to do with anything? Because it sure as fuck is not relevent to what I said.

Obviously they feel there's a market for this service.  And yes, GP did not get paid by GameCrush to write this article.

Sora-ChanSo it's just a matter of having better emulation software. If it can be done with a 3DS game, with all the memory and what not it takes up, it can be done with a GBA title through emulation.07/29/2014 - 7:30pm
Sora-ChanOther VC titles for the NES and Gameboy had the same setup where you couldn't access the homescreen without quitting out of the game til a later update when those games were released for the public outside of the founder program.07/29/2014 - 7:28pm
Sora-Chanthe 3DS can, and does, run GBA games, as seen by the founder gifts, which included a number of GBA titles. As for running GBA games and still having access to the home screen, I beleive it's more of the game emulation software needs to be updated.07/29/2014 - 7:27pm
Matthew Wilsonthe 3ds already swaps os's with the original ds. plus I dont think people expect miverse interaction when playing a gba game.07/29/2014 - 6:06pm
MaskedPixelanteBut that's not the issue, the 3DS is perfectly capable of emulating GBA games. The problem is that it doesn't have enough available system resources to run it alongside the 3DS OS, and thus it doesn't have access to stuff like Miiverse and save states.07/29/2014 - 5:45pm
Matthew WilsonI am well aware that it requires more power, but if a GBA emulator could run well on a original psp, than it should work on a 3ds.07/29/2014 - 5:36pm
ZenThe reason the SNES could run Gameboy, or the Gamecube could run GBA was because their adapters included all of the necessary hardware to do it in the respective add-ons. The systems were just conduits for control inputs and video/sound/power.07/29/2014 - 4:51pm
ZenMatthew: Emulation takes more power than people realize to run a game properly. You can make something run on less, but Nintendo...as slow as they are at releasing them..makes them run as close to 100% as possible. Each game has its own emulator for it.07/29/2014 - 4:47pm
Matthew Wilsonkind of hard to believe since the 3ds is atleast as powerful as the gamecube hardware wise.07/29/2014 - 4:27pm
MaskedPixelanteYes, the 3DS has enough power to run 16-bit emulators, but not at the same time it's running the 3DS systems themselves. You could run the games, but you wouldn't get save states or Miiverse.07/29/2014 - 4:04pm
InfophileRunning GBA on 3DS shouldn't be hard. The DS had flashcarts sold for it that added just enough power to emulate GBA and SNES games, so the 3DS should have more than enough natively.07/29/2014 - 3:37pm
