Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

March 29, 2010 -

Had enough of this “hope-y-change-y stuff?” Now ‘s your chance to fly a helicopter as Sara Palin and attempt to covert liberals to Tea Party members.

Palin’s Tea Bomber is a Flash-based game served up on AddictingGames.com, and features the ex-VP candidate flying through the skies yelling things like, “Here comes a whalin’ from the Palin,” and “I can see my house from here (and Russia too),”  while she drops tea bombs on “elitists”, including Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Brad Pitt and Tiger Woods.

Palin’s first boss battle in the game is against Rahm Emanuel, current President Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff. The game bills Emanuel as “one of the world’s most legendary gangsters,” and charges players with drenching Chicago in chai tea in order to stop him.

Failing to eradicate Emanuel results in the proclamation, “Looks like all that book tour time has taken the edge off my shootin’ instincts.”

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

The number of mainstream media devouring liberals who comment on this site is disgusting.  Anyone who has done even 10 minutes of research on the Tea Party movement knows several things:  Yes, they are angry, but so what?  It isn't against the law to be angry with your elected representatives is it?  Being angry is a right.  No, they aren't all rich, white people out to steal your money (LOL).  They believe in the core principles of the founders, which is less government intrusion and more liberty.  And, no they don't feel the need to apologize for the actions of a few nutjobs that ride on their bandwagon and cause trouble, as they don't think that those few represent their core ideals or the movement itself.

As for this game, it does look more like a parody than anything.  I always find political games like these to be absolutely terrible, regardless of which ideology they are pushing.  Keep the politics out of my video games please.  Thanks.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

I've done more than 10 minutes of resarch on them sadly.  They are a group of simmering violence waiting to happen mixed with racism, and topped with WAY too much fear of "teh socialisms".  And all in all they are nothing more than a death panel who wishes to deny me health care.  So why should I have a good opinion of someone who wants to deny me that?

And besides.  I don't really like the mainstream media too much.  Too much conservative bias.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

Turn people into tea partiers ?  Well I suppose if you bombed them with lots and lots of money so they could get some health care that could feasibly work, but even still probably not.  But that is the only scenerio where I would see people logically fighting against getting health care.  It would be like attacking someone who is bringing you a bottle of water when you are dying of dehydration in the desert.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

If you brought a dehydrated tea-partier a bottle of water and you didn,t think exactly like them, they'd take it and pour it out because they'd be paranoid that you poisoned it and would be pouring it out just so you don't have it either.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

It seems more like a parody than anything serious.

Pfft, Palin probably doesn't know her Lipton from chai, or any quality tea for that matter.

As much as I admire movements like the Tea Party movement,  Ihate their choice of spokespersons.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

Something tells me that you might find the Coffee Party more to your liking, Zach.  They're more rational, inclusive, interested in civil discourse and believe in both parties working together.  In short, they're everything the Tea Party claims to be but is not.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

Only participants that think the tea party movement began after Obama became president and participate in the hateful rhetoric we have seen it break down into think she is a spokesperson.  Anyone that supported the bank bailout (Palin and Beck both did) obviously don't understand what the tea party was supposed to be about.  The fact that she is now seen as a spokesperson is a sign of how quickly the Republican mainstream co-opted the movement.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

Why would you admire such a hateful, ignorant, angry, spiteful group of people? There's a reason their spokespeople are the likes of Beck, Palin, Malkin, and Limbaugh...

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

As opposed to what?  Are you implying there are fundamentalist groups that aren't hateful, ignorant, angry and spiteful?

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

I don't think there are any "Fundamentalist" groups that aren't hateful. I think there are PLENTY of other political movements that aren't hateful, though. Medical Marijuana would be at the top of that list, as far as I can tell. I haven't seen anyone from a MM group threaten violence or assassination like these Teabaggers are doing left and right, it seems.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

Then I guess you've never seen anyone get arrested for abusing MM privileges, then.  They DO get violent, not just threaten violence.

Re: Tea Party Game? You Betcha!

I guess not. Though I'd suggest that they aren't necessarily part of the movement, and the movement itself condemns violence, rather than the Teabaggers encouragement of violence through heated rhetoric and the fact that I've yet to see an official Teabagger condemnation of the violent acts that occurred after Obama signed the HCR bill.

Though, I suppose that's beside the point. Either way, my original point was that the teabaggers are much, much more hateful and violent than anything I've seen in my 23 years on this planet.

Such as one jerkass who nearly committed vehicular manslaughter against another because there was an Obama bumper sticker on the car, and the car that was rammed had the oxner's ten year old child inside.

Montetrolls are just at their absolute worst when it comes to women and feminist. You could bet good money that if the developer were male the trolls would be silent and the conversation would actually focus on the journalism.10/18/2014 - 9:18pm
MontePapa: Not the first time we've had a journalism scandals before, but the harassment never got close to this level; the difference with this scandal is that feminists are involved. Without the feminist angle, their would be A LOT less harrassment10/18/2014 - 9:15pm
Papa MidnightMonte: That's honestly rather short-sighted. As has been proven with other persons who have been targeted, if it wasn't Quinn, it would be someone else.10/18/2014 - 6:26pm
AvalongodI think that's part of what gives an esoteric news story like this real life...it taps into a larger narrative about misogyny in society outside of games.10/18/2014 - 3:29pm
Avalongod@Monte, well the trolls made death threats that came to police (and media attention). I think this is tapping into a larger issue outside of games about how women are treated in society (like all the "real rape" stuff during the last election)10/18/2014 - 3:28pm
WonderkarpZippy : Havent tried the PS4 controller. might later.10/18/2014 - 2:37pm
MonteSeirously, If Quinn was not involved and GG was instead about something like the Mordor Marketing contracts, the trolling would have never grown so vile and disgusting. There have been plenty of movements in the past that never sufferred from behavior..10/18/2014 - 1:57pm
MonteWe have seen scandel's before but the trolling has never been as vile as what we see with GG. Trolls usually have such a tiny voice you can barely notice them, but its like moths to a flame whenever femistist are involved.10/18/2014 - 1:53pm
ZippyDSMleeWonderkarp: You might be able to if you had a PS4 controller.10/18/2014 - 1:00pm

Matthew Wilsonthe sad thing is there are trolls on both sides of this. people need to stop acting like their side is so pure.10/18/2014 - 12:19pm
MechaTama31So, only speak out on a scandal that hasn't attracted trolls? I wouldn't hold my breath...10/18/2014 - 10:49am
MonteI feel like GG just needs to die. The movement is FAR to tainted by hatred and BS for it to be useful for any conversation. Let GG die, and then rally behind the NEXT gaming journalism scandal, and start the conversation fresh.10/18/2014 - 10:33am
quiknkoldand we dont have a Dovakin to call a cease fire10/17/2014 - 7:37pm
quiknkoldThe whole thing is Futile. Both sides are so buried deep in their trenchs that there isnt a conversation. Its just Finger Pointing, Name Calling, Doxxing, Threats. there needs to be a serious conversation, and GG isnt it.10/17/2014 - 7:37pm
quiknkoldI thought it was a good article. Jeff is right. I feel like GamerGate did destroy its message. I am for Ethics in game journalism, but man. so much hate. and its on both sides. I've seen some awful stuff spewed on twitter. Its a big reason why I exited..10/17/2014 - 7:34pm
Matthew Wilsonwhile he focused on gg, he did call out both sides crap.10/17/2014 - 7:18pm
