Penny Arcade Now Accepting Scholarship Applications

Penny Arcade Now Accepting Scholarship Applications

April 19, 2010

Current students at accredited U.S. colleges or universities have until the end of next month to apply for a $10,000 scholarship from Penny Arcade.

This will be the fourth year that the Internet-based comic grants such a scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 and can have a major in any field, though they must have the intention of entering the game industry in “some capacity.”

Those interested will also need to submit a letter—with info on current studies and how the applicant will benefit the game industry—in addition to two letters of recommendation, a school transcript and photograph (though it was noted that the “Photograph will NOT be part of the selection process”).

The scholarship is for one year only. An application can be grabbed here (PDF). Applications need to be postmarked May 30 or earlier.

Andrew Eisen: I disagree that it's sexist. I think she's reading a bit too much into it. That said, while the story in and of itself is fine, even good, the writing is atrocious.
