It would be foolhardy to say that the party is over for social networking games on Facebook, but it is apparent that the party is at least winding down. Droves of players have grown tired of some games and have disengaged from them in favor of other things apparently; Gamasutra, who does a regular accounting of Facebook game rankings, has published its latest finding on the state of play in social gaming and it does not look good.
According to the report, based on two weeks' worth of data from AppData, some of the biggest social networking games on Facebook are seeing steep declines including Farmville, Treasure Isle and Cafe World. So how bad is it for those top games made by Zynga? Pretty bad. Farmville, the most popular game on Facebook, dipped from 66.6 million to 63.9 million; Treasure Isle lost 2.5 million, and Cafe World lost 1.5 million users.
The only bright spot was the #2 game, Zynga Texas HoldEm Poker, which managed to attract nearly one-hundred thousand new users for a total of 28.6 million. Maybe the warm weather has something to do with it?

Re: Facebook Games Shed Millions of Users
It was bound to happen any time soon.

Re: Facebook Games Shed Millions of Users
People attracted to simple objects and games have short attention spans and tend to leave a shiny new toy after playing with it for a while. Just the way things work.
Re: Facebook Games Shed Millions of Users
So there are still 63.9 million people playing Farmville.
That's more than the entire population of the United Kingdom O_o

And thus, the healing begins.
