Senate Hopeful Casts Copyright Claims Against Incumbent Reid

July 6, 2010

As the battle for one of Nevada’s Senate seats heats up between incumbent Harry Reid (D) and challenger Sharron Angle (R), Angle’s camp issued a cease-and-desist letter to Reid’s team over images and position statements taken from an old Angle website, which were then posted to the website theRealSharronAngle.com.

TPM reported that Angle launched a new website after winning the Nevada Republican Senate primary, at least partly to tone down “her right-wing rhetoric.” The Reid campaign team had saved Angle’s old website contents however, and reproduced them on the aforementioned website (which has since been taken down and now forwards to SharronsUndergroundBunker.com).

The complaint filed by Angle alleged that Reid was using the new old website in order to capture “the names of persons seeking to add their names and email addresses as supporters of Sharron Angle.” The complaint also contended that the design and information found on Angle’s previous website was copyrighted by “my client and its vendor.”

As long new blood is in the Senate i'm all for it, and it helps if the person wasn't a Senator when FDR was around.

Re: Senate Hopeful Casts Copyright Claims Against Incumbent ...

Reflexive anti-incumbent stances are the dumbest of political stances.

Re: Senate Hopeful Casts Copyright Claims Against Incumbent ...

Well, I actually think she is in the wrong here. This is the equivalent of someone doing something REALLY stupid (crime, rape, murder, etc etc etc.) and demanding that their opponent not be allowed to bring that up before an election. If the statements were about how she thinks videogames are the devil and they all need to be banned and the internet needs to be shut down I imagine your viewpoint would be a little different on her.

Re: Senate Hopeful Casts Copyright Claims Against Incumbent ...

So, it's okay if the Dems violate the law, as long as a Republican is the victim, eh?

If the political parties were reversed, I'd imagine you'd be singing a different tune, too.  Also, conservative rhetoric != rape or murder.

No, the problem is that Sharron Angle is completely bat-shit insane, and she's trying to cover up her own record.

And I am so sick of this whiny, "oh, if it were a Republican" nonsense that lets them pretend that they are somehow persecuted in this country.

DorthLousPassed 1.5M$. And I'd also say that Brutal Legend is far from being a bad game. I just think it was a few levels under what people expected from the people working on the project.02/11/2012 - 8:25am
TechnogeekBrutal Legend wasn't bad so much as "marketing had no idea how the game actually played", causing it to suffer accordingly.02/10/2012 - 10:38pm
