After years of asking game consumers to get involved in the fight to speak up and care about the issue of videogame violence, gamers have heeded the call, and at a critically important time for the industry, just as it faces perhaps its single most important challenge to date in the U.S. Supreme Court this fall.
The Entertainment Consumers Association (ECA), the nonprofit consumer association which publishes GP, announced in May that they would be submitting an amicus brief in support of the trade’s position and that they would also be appending a consumer petition to the brief, giving U.S. gamers of all ages the ability to weigh-in and help defend gaming. In return, the ECA asked the industry to help get the word out about the petition using all means possible.
Doing a quick sweep of FaceBook, Twitter and publisher and developer sites, what we found was that a fair number of the leading game devs are openly and publicly supportive of the petition and are encouraging their fans, followers and friends to participate as well. The "Who’s Who" that we could see includes such notables as David Perry (Gaikai/Acclaim), Mike Wilson (Devolver Digital/GoD), Lorne Lanning (Oddworld), Jason Della Rocca (Perimeter), Chris Taylor (Gas Powered Games), Raph Koster (Metaplace), American McGee (Spicy Horse) and Cliff Bleszinski (Epic Games).
The International Game Developers Association (IDGA), also blasted their member list to help increase awareness and participation in the petition.
Disclosure: GamePolitics is a publication of the ECA.

Re: Leading Game Devs Supporting the Gamer Petition
Not to be all negative about the subject, because I do support such an endeavor, however the last I remember hearing electronic petitions carry next to no weight.
Once again, I do support this idea, however I would feel better about it if anyone might have some kind of evidence to show these kinds of things work.

Re: Leading Game Devs Supporting the Gamer Petition
This petition should also be avaliable on Xbox Live and the PSN so gamers can send their support quickly. Well, that´s my opinion.
I´m really worried because it looks that this bill is getting everybody else worried. If this bill is passed, it won´t be pretty for all of us.

Watching JT on GP is just like watching an episode of Jerry springer only as funny as the fights
America has just became its own version of the Jerry Springer Show after a bizarre moment in Florida involving a carnival worker.
