Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

September 24, 2010 -

While Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s iPhone app has been making the news this week due to its appearance in Apple’s top 10-grossing application list, the Jersey Shore star may soon be facing a lawsuit over a game included in the app.

The app features a game called “Grenade Dodger,” in which users attempt to dodge unattractive women, or “grenades” in Jersey Shore-speak. The problem, according to Radar Online, is that photographers were dispatched by the game’s developer to clubs in order to snatch pictures of women in the “3 or 4” category for inclusion in the Situation’s application. One of the girls featured in “Grenade Dodger” is reportedly horrified over her insertion in the game and is considering taking legal action.

A source told Radar, “While the girls did know their photos were being taken, they were unaware they were about to become official grenades.”

If ther TV sho can do it I do not see why a game can not but to be safe you need each person to sign a waiver or soemthing....

Zippy you should know that those dumb ass girls that party 24/7 don't think about signing anything & if they did they wouldn't read what they were signing & could sign their life away. Sad.

I doubt they ever read anything.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

Methinks she would not be considering legal action if she was not ugly (damn nature) and had this fact spread over the app. users.  Still I suppose the photohogs should have gotten signed waivers or some such to CYA.

Still its only the Jersey shores.

I lived in South Jersey for several months, can still fall back on the accent.  And Yes btw I did specify South Jersey.  To the people that live there North and South Jersey might was well be different states (and neither want to associated with Newark).  So yes none of this surprises me.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

As someone who has lived in North Jersey most of his life (Passaic County currently), I can definitely say there is a significant change in social environments in North and South Jersey (As I venture to South Jersey for vacation and friends who live there as well).  One big thing is the change in sports teams (As Jersey has no official baseball team).  North follows the mets/yankees while south follows the Phillies, for example.

Granted, North Jersey isn't that much better but I can at least say "Jersey Shore" is a horrible representation of what NJ (though it seems to hit some nails right).

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

Jersey Shore once again proves it is the worse thing to come out since George Bush's private parts before viagra. And who the hell would call themselves "The Situation"? what is he situating? His balls? A perfect example why I refuse to get cable anymore. Shows like this are too depressing.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

He problably just calls himself that so when someone says soemthing like "This situation is out of hand" he'll think they're talking about him. Likely the sign of a weak ego.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

I've lived by the shore in NJ most of my life and I can tell you that these "people" are even worse than depicted on the shows.  They pick fights with anyone they percieve as weaker, abuse women, are rude, and are dirt-stupid.  I could write pages and pages of stories about these kinds of jerks who populate this part of the state (no, they aren't all from NY as some suggest).  Hell, I watched one literally assault his own mother because she was critical of how he was driving.

Trust me, you have no idea how truly awful these assholes are.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

I'm sorry to hear that. Thanks for letting me know, when I move to PA, I will be sure to stay away from NJ.

They thought they were about to become semi-official quasi-grenades. Dumb-ass heifers.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

It's far more likely that they didn't know their photos were going to be commercially exploited and insulted.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

Or, perhaps, equally likely that they thought the waiver and release form they filled out and signed was the club's VIP mailing list questionnaire.

"... in which users attempt to dodge unattractive women, or “grenades” in Jersey Shore-speak."

I have no idea what Jersey Shore is but I get the feeling I'm not missing anything intelligent or entertaining.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

Jersey Shore is a guilty pleasure I like to watch. It is about 5 or 6 Italians that have come to the U.S. & are showing the prejudice & stereotype against Italians (themselves), while they stay in NJ & party all the time at clubs, have sex with hot, sexy women & rate the "grenades" ugly women.....who to me are still pretty girls. & of course it's on MTV. But they are all idiots & the only one that is, I guess smart, would be Mike "The Situation." But they do get jobs & they do save money & party, have sex & drink b/c they are Italians. (I don't get that part.....but okay.)

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

People like that tend to set rather impossibly high standards.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

As popular as it is, I have never heard anything positive about the show.  My guess is that it appeals to people's morbid interests.... so it is the TV equivelent of stopping by a train wreak to sit and watch them fish body parts out of the open sewer the train crashed into.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

I know there's some amount of je ne sais quoi to saying, "I don't have cable and/or don't watch television," but really, Mr. Eisen.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

I don't have cable.  My TV is video games and DVDs only.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

That is my setup now too, and I have been petty happy with it.

Console+netflix streaming+HTPC for the win.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

I got tired of my cable provider trying to bend me over every chance they get, so I cancelled and gave them back all their boxes and remotes (which the bastards were charging me close to $1 a day to "rent") and kept them solely as my ISP. But because the IS and the cable are delivered on a single coaxial and I own a cable-ready TV, I slapped a splitter on the coaxial, stuck one split to my PC and the other to my TV and managed to get 130-plus cable channels (many of them in Hi-Def). I pretty much get everything but the super-premiums like HBO, SHO, MAX, etc. Take that!!

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

Ok, that is kinda cool.

I wonder what would happen if I tried something similiar... hrmmm

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

What you to got lose? Or than chunks of your grey matter to watching rot like Jersey Shore? And my gain was the elimination of a monthly cable bill close to $150 (I foolishly signed up for full premium at a ridiculously attractive "introductory" rate which they thereafter steadily raised 400% over the next two years) while still getting basis cable-plus for the $40 a month I now pay for a high-speed 'net connect).

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

Well, there are maybe 3 channels I actually WOULD like access to, which is not enough, in my mind, to justify the cost of a cable subscription plus settop box... so getting those back would be nice.

I am one of those customers that would probably pay for a limited a la carte system with no set top, but  that is not what is provided and lack of competition keeps it that way.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

My concern is not having the ready access to TV news stations (I keep my set tuned to CNN or the like with the volume down when I'm not actually watching non-news programming). I've been doing that ever since I lived in NYC and was about to head out the door to work on Wall Street when I glanced over my shoulder and saw televised coverage of smoke billowing from the Twin Towers (three blocks from my office). Perhaps needless to say, I ditched work and stayed my ass at home that day. And ever since keep the TV silently tuned to CNN even when I ain't really interested in watching no TV.

But I lived in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn then, so getting ganked by a cable company wasn't an issue to me. Don't nobody pay for cable in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. Not beyond the initial $150 for the jenky cable guy to hook you up with a box, a remote, and a lifetime subscription.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

CNN?  Their coverage is horrible anymore.  At least treat yourself well and watch one of the many NBC news channels.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

I can't dispute that. I do often find myself asking aloud, "This is news?" But certainly you don't seriously suggest MSNBC as a viable alternative? If I want to hear the Obama administration's talking points for the day, there's always C-SPAN, who offer live coverage of Robert Gibbs' daily press briefings without all the spin.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

At least get the federally subsidized analog-digital converter so you'll get FOX on Sundays. "Family Guy." "The Cleveland Show." "American Dad." It'some good shit. Trust me.

Re: Jersey Shore Star May Face Situation Over App

I've never watched it but I get the impression that the fact that it's not intelligent is why (sadly) it's entertaining.
