Extra Life has hit the 2,000 gamer mark. What is Extra Life and why does hitting the 2000 matter? Well Extra Life is a 24-hour video game marathon that raises money for the children's hospitals. Gamers sign up to play games and 100 percent of the money raised during Extra Life 2010 goes directly to the Children’s Miracle Network.
Extra Life kicks off at 8:00 AM (your local time) on Saturday, October 16th and ends at 8:00 AM (your local time) on Sunday, October 17th. A make-up date the following Saturday is available for those that can't get involved on the 16th.
For players that want to get involved, the plan is to find at least 4 sponsors to give $1.00 for each hour of the marathon ($24.00 per sponsor). For those that want to sponsor a gamer, you can visit here to make your donation and here to find a gamer to sponsor.
Organizers say that they have already raised $300,000.
