Christian PC game publisher Left Behind Games has stated that its Left Behind 3: Rise of the Antichrist PC game, in advance of Christmas, will benefit from the “largest marketing push through churches since the Passion of the Christ.”
In a story last week, the company claimed that Christian store chains had pre-ordered 37,174 Left Behind Games titles in advance of the holiday season. The company has now disclosed the names of the chains that will carry its games, which includes Family Christian Stores, LifeWay Christian Stores, Mardel Christian & Education and Berean Christian Stores.
Left Behind Games also claimed that, in retail tests performed during the 2009 Christmas season, its Left Behind real-time strategy games “sold in the top 10% of all PC games.” While the retail location was not disclosed, it’s possible that the company was referring to the pilot release of its games in 100 Texas Wal-Mart stores, an imitative that was announced in October of 2009.
Left Behind said that sales of its games in the retail tests “competed favorably” with “other hit PC titles” like The Sims and World of Warcraft.
The co-author of the Left Behind series of books, Dr. Tim LaHaye, is a believer in videogames, stating:
This may be for this generation that plays video games, the most powerful invention to reach their hearts and minds that's been invented in our lifetime.
Crystal Lewis, a Christian music artist, added, "Anytime I can get a game for my child that includes matters of faith and then end up hearing my kids talking about it and sharing with others, I'm sold. I'm totally sold."

I of course will defend to the death their right to publish this game but... I personally find it abohorent. The games are about either converting or KILLING non-believers. People get on the Muslim's case, but we all know the Christians would do the same crap if they could get away with it.
I'll be happy once everyone decides they can give up their big bearded man fairy tales.

I'll be happy once everyone decides to stop telling me what I apparently would do if could get away with it, or to stop making any assumptions about what I think or believe for that matter. I'll be happy when christian fundies and antitheists alike give up on their generalizations and fallicious rhetoric on whoever they disagree with.

Three things:
1) All the games in the Left Behind series to date are roughly a 35% Metacritic rating - and that is being generous with the rating. The company clearly doesn't know how to make a good video game. Their efforts are better spent doing other things.
2) WOW is a job, not a game. The Sims is more of a toy game and only barely qualifies as a video game. Left 4 Dead, on the other hand, is a real video game.
3) I'll pretty much be annoyed at anyone who even thinks of buying me this game for Christmas. I make a massive list of items every year that runs the whole gamut of price ranges ($10 to $500) with plenty of options to choose from. I then make sure everyone in my family receives my list at least two months in advance. That way there is zero excuse for lame last-minute gifts. And because the list is so massive, I usually forget what I asked for. It works. I get exciting gifts and have never had to return anything.

Meh. You can get the whole tribulation/left behind scenario with L4D and it's much more interesting.
At any rate, after seeing all the flame wars in news site comments over stem cell therepy finally being attempted, I'm had enough bible-thumping talk for a month.
