Miami Cops Urge Public to Report Sightings of Jay-Z or GTA Characters

What do gang bangers look like? According to the Miami Police Department, they either resemble rapper Jay-Z or bad caricatures of Grand Theft Auto characters.

The police department used not one, but two different Jay-Z look-alikes in an ad encouraging the populace to report on suspected gang activity. Evidence is provided on the Miami New Times website which shows that the artwork was clearly based on real images of the rap impresario.

Appearing behind the pair Hova cartoons are a trio of characters that looked like they jumped straight out of a Grand Theft Auto game.

The image was posted prominently on the Miami Police website, but was recently removed and the department would not comment on any similarities. A screenshot of the image, as it appeared on the police website has been preserved here.

In all seriousness though, this is kind of ridiculous to come out of a "professional" law enforcement agency. Perhaps actual gangs should adopt a squeaky-clean Gap or Old Navy dress style...just to throw off law enforcement and allowing them to operate virtually undetected! It's like urban camoflage that makes you invisible to police officers.

I seriously doubt it, I really do, yet I just can't help thinking our old buddy Jack had something to do with this. I mean, this is classic JT to me. The only thing it's missing is an "Or else."

Regardless though, this is just reprehensible. If I was Jay-Z, I'd sue.

Why don't they just use mugshots of ACTUAL gang-bangers? I'm sure they have some lying around. It's kind of like if the people at Homeland Security were to put flyers up with pictures of guys with huge beards, turbans, hefting scimitars and throwing bombs at people. That's not what the guys who flew those 747s into the Twin Towers looked like.

Because if you happen to look like a gang-banger just because you look latin/black/foreigner and tough, people will be calling the police just by sighting you on a mall. But like you said, it´s like Jack Thompson´s idea of an utopia.
