Propaganda Games Layoffs Confirmed

October 15, 2010

While most will not care that Disney Interactive has cancelled the Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned, some will be discouraged to hear that developer Propaganda Games has laid off a number of employees as a side effect. The company is also working on the upcoming Tron: Evolution game and the DLC that will follow the game's release in December. That development team remains unscathed.

Here is the official statement from an unnamed Disney Interactive representative (from Joystiq):

"Disney Interactive Studios confirms the cancellation of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned video game which was scheduled to be released in 2011. As a result of this decision, Disney Interactive Studios completed a restructuring of Propaganda Games, its Vancouver, BC internal studio, affecting one of the studio's two development teams.

The studio is still in active production of Tron: Evolution, the video game, which will be released on December 7, 2010 with additional DLC (downloadable content) support following the game's release.

Did you, perhaps, post that comment through your phone?

Re: Propaganda Games Layoffs Confirmed

I guess I will be the one to say it this time..... why is this on GP?

There are numerous other general industry news sites, for instance, Kotaku... stop trying to be a portal.  Niche sites that try to become portals end up in dirrect competition with sites that have more community and momentum behind them, and loose.

MaskedPixelanteSo Andrew... is there going to be a new poll now? I mean, the one about the XBO DRM is kinda no longer relevant.06/19/2013 - 4:13pm
Andrew EisenIn light of Xbox One's furious backpeddling on its DRM policies, I'm closing the poll for now. I'll probably write a new one later today or tomorrow.06/19/2013 - 4:11pm

Andrew EisenTechnogeek - I agree but: "After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again." Why do I need to connect online to set up a system I'm not going to use online?06/19/2013 - 4:07pm
