Canada’s Department of National Defence has submitted a federal government tender request for 500 videogames.
Among the games requested, according to The Star, are 93 copies of Gears of War, 82 copies in total of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 36 copies of Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock. All in all, it’s estimated that the total value of the games sought is around $25,000.
Capt. Sandra Bourne, a spokesperson for the Canadian Forces, said about the order, “It’s a strange one.”
Notably absent from the list—Medal of Honor, which Canadian Defence Minister Peter MacKay criticized earlier this year.
Other games requested included Rock Band 2, Assassins Creed 2, Grand Theft Auto 4, Mortal Kombat DC Universe, Ghost Recon and Tiger Woods 2011.
The tender closes December 2 and instructs suppliers to deliver the games to the Longue-Pointe Garrison in Montreal. The tender can be viewed here, but a log-in is necessary to view the complete list of titles.

I think she's using "strange" in the sense of "unusual" rather than "bewildering." To be sure, it's odd timing, given all the hubbub about our new 'training' phase in Afghanistan.

I'll say it's strange. Why so few Guitar Hero copies?

Would she´ll be protesting if they ordered instead a thousand copies of the bible?

She probably would. This is Canada, we're not completely hung up on our religious conscience. (Well, maybe Harper is, but not the rest of us.)

I appears someone is unaware of the benefits of games to reducing the symptoms of PTSD and other anxiety disorders. I know that my anxiety disorder and PTSD is diminished when I spend time playing games.
