Update: As one commenter points out, this hack "fulfills" Rule 34, it doesn't "break" it. I've updated the headline and the text below to reflect that.
Original Story:
Kinect hackers have done some interesting things with Microsoft's motion-sensing camera device like making it control RC vehicles, created a "Minority Report" style control scheme, and a hack to track a body while not using an Xbox 360. The latest hack finally fulfills Rule 34. It was inevitable, of course.
The Urban Dictionary defines Rule 34 in the following manner:
"Generally accepted internet rule that states that pornography or sexually related material exists for any conceivable subject."
Using a 3D PC sex game, an unknown developer has created a groping simulator that lets you use the Kinect to grope a scantily clad woman using one of your hands. No doubt the other hand is free to do other things.. like check email and your stock portfolio.
A video of the hack in action is available on YouTube and a mirror of that video is available on Pixelated Geek. The video is (obviously) NSFW.

Re: Rule 34 Broken: The Kinect Groping Sim
Not bad.
But one needs a glove, a game that recognizes very precise hand and finger movement, and tactile response transmitters in the glove to make it really worthwhile.
This thing just doesn't impress me as it really just ends up being another way to move a hand shaped cursor around. I can get the same effect using a rollerball or mouse. The effect just simply isn't really any different.

Re: Rule 34 Broken: The Kinect Groping Sim
It has not been broken, it's been adhered to. Likewise, there's Rule 35 which is something of an addendum to Rule 34 that states if a porn of it has not been made, it will.
BTW, just out of curiosity and not to be a troll in any form or manner but what has this got to do with politics? What, is someone now going to sue Microsoft and say that their Kinect can be used for illicit sexual deviancy (re: GTA San Andreas)?

Re: Rule 34 Broken: The Kinect Groping Sim
I do not think that this falls under Rules 34 or 35 as the Kinect Sensor bar is not the subject of the porn, mearly a facilitating technology.
I do agree that we could eventually see some sort of backlash against Microsoft for not acting to prevent their technology's use in this manner, but it's going to be a slow-burn to get there.
Re: Rule 34 Broken: The Kinect Groping Sim
They can't do that, since it would stop all non licensed dickary with the drivers, and MS needs that to make it better. Tho they could implemented a license structure that at the end of the day they can put the stops on any project they do not like.
I have a dream, break the chains of copy right oppression! http://zippydsmlee.wordpress.com/2010/05/21/cigital-disobedience/
Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Let's renegotiate them.
