THQ is no doubt happy to report today that Homefront first day sales in North America were approximately 375,000 units. The game ships to Europe and Asia Pacific throughout this week. No doubt THQ is delighted to make this announcement after an average Metacritic score of 73 (73 on PS3, 71 on Xbox 360, and 72 on PC) saw investors get nervous and sell off yesterday.
"We are delighted with first day sales for Homefront and are already fulfilling re-orders for the game from multiple retailers," said Brian Farrell, THQ President and CEO.
"Homefront’s excellent multiplayer experience, combined with our commitment to dedicated servers, make this a must-have purchase for gamers," added Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. "Due to the strong and growing demand for Homefront’s multiplayer, we continue to add dedicated server capacity. We are confident that the large-scale multiplayer maps featuring 32 players, vehicles, infantry and drones, will continue to be a major draw for the huge audience of FPS gamers looking for a new experience over the coming months."
THQ had some launch day trouble with multiplayer servers according to several reports, but the company is working hard to make sure the servers are up and available for anyone that wants to play online.

If you guys haven't noticed, they've been designing first-person shooter games to focus on multiplayer for the past couple years. Shooting games with 20+ hour singleplayer campaigns have pretty much gone the way of the dodo. I'm pretty sure 8-10 hours is the norm nowadays.
You want more than that? Play Fallout or Final Fantasy.

It's too bad they can't track trade-ins durings the first week. I've got many friends that pre-ordered the game due to the potential that was there, played the awefully short single player campaign (under 3 hours) and then traded the game in the next day towards either Gears of War 3 or Battlefield 3.

Absolutely. Same thing is happening in the online gaming community I belong to.
Of the about half a dozen people I know bought the game, two are already trading it in, in less than a week.
I was also looking forward to this game, but I don't usually buy my games (other than the ones I REALLY want) on release date for a couple of reasons. I don't trust the press reviews and want to wait for peer reviews, and if the game is a marginal success, it'll go on sale VERY quickly, so if I wait a week or two, I save $15 - $20.

Three hours is an exageration. It's at least double that, but yeah, it's not that long. Decent game, but pretty disappointing given how great the concept was.
