Another day, another series of questions and answers from Sony. The latest batch of questions and answers attempt to explain what users can expect when the PlayStation Network comes back online. Topics covered include download history/friends list/settings, Sony Online Entertainment's games, PS+ cloud saves, the state of trophies, and if Sony will offer some sort of good will content as an apology to users. Bullet points follow:
- Download history/friends list/settings will not be affected by the PSN downtime.
- Trophies that were earned in single-player offline games during the outage will be intact when the service resumes and will be resynched.
- PS+ cloud saves will be retrievable once PSN is restored.
- Subscribers to SOE's PS3 MMOs DC Universe Online or Free Realms will be rewarded with various events, extras and some surprises when they come back online via PSN.
- Sony is still evaluating what it can do to compensate players when PSN comes back online.

Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
Well, seems PSN users will be given a free 30 days of Playstation Plus, Qriocity, some complimentary download,s and some kind of welcome back package.
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
That's awfully nice of them, considering they technically didn't have to do anything. So now I'll get to see if PS+ is worth the $50 a year.

Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
Agreed. Hell, I'd argue a free 30 day trial should become standard with a new account.

What am awesome compensation for all the money that was stolen from me due to your incompetence. /sarcasm

Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
Well, at least they care about the little things (apparently more than the big things.)
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
I don't think people care about their trophies and friends list at the moment and care more about the security of their information and card numbers.
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
And there's something they're able to do about it now that the card companies and banks can't?
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
No, but they should've make sure that this kinda thing shouldn't have happend in the first place.
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
I don't think there's anything they could have done to "make sure that this kinda thing shouldn't have happened in the first place". I'm not entirely convinced that this wouldn't have happened if Sony had stronger protection. With so many agencies getting involved in the investigation, I'm thinking that Sony would have been hacked no matter how good their encryption and data protection was.

Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
Exactly. I mean look at any DRM scheme. Most of those are hacked withint 24 hours of the games release, and at times sooner than that.
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
Well, at least Sony is actually considering doing so.
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
Well they never said they wouldn't try to compensate, but like the with the CC numbers, some people just instantly ran with the more sensational/alarmist option that they wouldn't just because they hadn't said anything the instant it happend (at kotaku, don't know about here).
Whether or not they can offer compensation that will make everyone happy? well never in history has everyone been happy, so lets hope a nice package can be made that will make most happy.
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
It's just good to see that they're going to do it is all. Won't hel pthose who already did the fool thing and traded in their PS3.
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
If they had a knee-jerk reaction of trading in their PS3, then they don't deserve it.

Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
Not going to even try to refute that. I'd even argue PSN will be better off without them.
Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
You won't find a counter-argument here. At least my PS3 still works. I traded in my Xbox for my 3DS after it RROD'd for the fourth time.

Re: More PlayStation Network Questions and Answers
Same ,save for the 360 since I don't technically own it.
the 360 has given me a few errors and i ncases took a little bit to start up, my PS3 has had zero problems save once in a while there's no sound at start up but that fixes itself the second I start up a game.
I'm laughing at this one conspiracy theory though. This one poster on Gamespot seemed to be insisting that this was some kind of plot to make people switch ot the Playstation 4 when it comes out, like Microsoft did with the Xbox.
Mmkay, so Sony is sabotaging their own network to make us buy a machine that we haven't even seen prototypes of, would make us form all new friend lists and start all over on trophies, Playstation Home or whatever else you used, to make you buy a new console?
Surrre.
And pretty certain that the only reason the original Xbox live was finally turned off was because there weren't enough users left to warrant leaving it on.
