New Indie Games to Debut at No Quarter May 12

May 10, 2011 -

This Thursday at the New York University Game Center, the No Quarter Exhibition of Games returns for its second year to debut some brand new independent games and offer some other interesting surprises. At last year's event, Mark "Messhof" Essen unveiled his dueling game Nidhogg. It went on to win an Independent Games Festival award.

This Thursday No Quarter will feature games from VVVVVV creator Terry Cavanagh, Ramiro Corbett (worked on Glow Artisan while at Powerhead), and game designer Charley Miller.

This year's No Quarter will also see the debut of NYC Winnitron, a free-to-play custom arcade cabinet featuring independent games. It was apparently modeled after the Torontron/Winnitron machines that are used on the indie scenes in Toronto and Winnipeg.

No Quarter begins on May 12 at 7 PM with an opening party. The event runs until the end of the month. For more information, visit http://gamecenter.nyu.edu/.

Mattsworknamemechacrash, my point was that groups get marked by the actions of minoritys among them. as andrew points out, this isn't just feminist or gg, it's universal due to the wide spread use of social media05/06/2015 - 8:07pm
Andrew EisenI meant there's nothing wrong with having that opinion, not that it's completely unassailable. It's certainly not.05/06/2015 - 8:07pm
Andrew EisenOf course she does. She's linked to several of them.05/06/2015 - 8:05pm
Goth_SkunkI'm disagreeing with your statement that there's nothing wrong with the opinion. And I certainly am NOT fine with her opinion. I'm fine with her right to say it.05/06/2015 - 8:05pm
Andrew EisenGoth - I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with. You're fine with her opinion, you don't agree with it and think it should be challenged. Great! We're on the same page!05/06/2015 - 8:04pm
Wonderkarpwanna know something she doesnt have? A Study backing up her claims. http://www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2015/04/10/new-study-finds-no-link-between-gaming-and-sexist-attitudes/05/06/2015 - 8:04pm
Andrew EisenReminds me of kids in grade school who would pick on the girl they fancies because they didn't know what else to do with their feelings. Oh Sarkeesian, why are you so damn desirable? You're driving the poor love sick denizens of the internet nuts!05/06/2015 - 8:03pm
Goth_SkunkI disagree. While I have no objection to her espousing the opinion, I definitely think there's something wrong with the opinion, especially if it goes unchallenged.05/06/2015 - 8:03pm
Wonderkarpok thats just gross05/06/2015 - 8:02pm
Andrew EisenAre you sure you don't have a folder stuffed full of Sarkeesian bon mots? Come on, you can tell me. I won't judge!05/06/2015 - 8:00pm
Wonderkarpits called google :P05/06/2015 - 7:58pm
Andrew EisenI mean, goodness, unless y'll are masters at Tweet searches, I'm getting the sense that you've collected a bunch of her statements to whip out and go LOOK AT WHAT SHE SAID!!! LOOK AT IT!!! LOOOOOK!!!!!!!!05/06/2015 - 7:57pm
Andrew EisenFrankly, for the sake of y'all's blood pressure, I'd just stop following Sarkeesain on Twitter!05/06/2015 - 7:56pm
Andrew EisenYep. Again, nothing wrong with that opinion and it's an interesting perspective especially when you allow yourself to understand it. And it's still totally okay to disagree with it.05/06/2015 - 7:55pm
Matthew Wilson@Wonderkarp Idc if you like her or mot. she presented her stuff in a reasonable way, the response back has not been.05/06/2015 - 7:55pm
Goth_SkunkShe did, yes. And I find that frightening.05/06/2015 - 7:55pm
Wonderkarphere's another where she says you need a time machine to see reverse sexism http://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/Going+full+sarkeesian+apparently+anita+doesn+t+think+you+can+be_9b53fd_5371346.png05/06/2015 - 7:52pm
Andrew EisenThe original point was, despite the fact that she said something you don't agree with (which, again, is totally fine), she communicated that opinion in a reasonable and even tempered manner.05/06/2015 - 7:52pm
Goth_SkunkI don't know how any reasonable person could possibly misinterpret the statement. She's clearly saying 'Sexism against men isn't possible.' Problem is, no matter how anyone tries to justify such a statement, it's sexist.05/06/2015 - 7:51pm
Goth_Skunk"Didn't say that one couldn't..." your use of double-negatives in one sentence is confusing me. For context, this is what she said: http://ow.ly/MCIid05/06/2015 - 7:50pm
