BioShock Infinite Wins Top Game Critics: Best of E3 Award

The results are in for the 2011 Game Critics Awards: Best of E3, and the big winners this year (according to games journalists for various publications) are BioShock Infinite, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Battlefield 3, and Sound Shapes.

Irrational Games' next BioShock game won four awards including Best of Show, Best Original Game, Best PC Game, and Best Action/Adventure Game.

Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim picked up two awards - Best Console Game and Best role Playing Game, while Battlefield 3 picked up awards for Best Action Game, and Best Online Multiplayer. Finally, Queasy Games' Sound Shapes won Best Handheld Game and Best Social/Casual Game. The full list of winners can be found below:

Great. Awards for games that haven't even been friggin' released yet, based solely on presentation.

The naive and impulse buyers outweigh the conservatives. So, I'm pretty sure it's a gold mine. It's a safety net in case of utter failure. Wasn't BioShock 2 a complete diaster?

And I do like a little mystery as to what's in the game rather than seeing it 3-4... 5-6 years before it's offically released. Nonetheless, the game does look pretty sweet :)

Yup, exactly what I was thinking.  It's awards for a marketing presentation.  Not just a award, but 17 of them with 5 nominations each.  This is the most useless thing I think I've ever seen, from a group that should know better.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Such awards seems so utterly pointless. Presentation means nothing compared to what the final product will turn out to be.
