Japanese game publisher and developer Gust has halted shipments of its latest Atelier role-playing game, Atelier Meruru, after the Japanese ratings board CERO raised objections to some scenes. The board said that the game featured some scenes that do not fit its "A" rating.
In a statement issued today, CERO said that it had conducted an investigation after receiving information from unnamed sources that the game had visual content inappropriate for an A rating. The board determined that the claims were accurate. The board added that Gust made a mistake by not including the materials in question at the time of the ratings process.
As a result, CERO has pulled the game's A rating, and Gust has been forced to halt shipments. The game will undergo re-rating process and will re-ship with the new rating mark when ready.
Atelier Meruru shipped in Japan on June 23. The RPG is the third PS3 entry in the Atelier series.

Re: Atelier Meruru Rating Revoked in Japan, Shipments Halted
ContextVcontent, I would like to know what the hubbub is about.
Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Let's renegotiate them.

No real hubbub. GUST failed to provide a satisfactory sample of the game for rating. Someone probably got offended because of a compromising position or a wardrobe malfunction. Happens all the time. A developer doesn't think it's that bad, but the conservatives beg to differ.
