MMO publisher Outspark has promoted Philip Yun to CEO, taking on a greater role in the company’s growth. Yun joined Outspark as COO earlier this year and has worked as an important member of the management team. Apparently he had been preparing all along for the role of CEO. Previously he served as the CEO of NHN USA where he played an important part in the successful launch of the free-to-play online games company.
"Taking on the role of CEO at Outspark is an opportunity for me to bring my experience in the games industry and match it with an organization that is on the right path," said Philip Yun, CEO of Outspark. "My primary mission is to grow the company, its reach and the talented team we have to ensure Outspark reaches its full potential in the marketplace."
Yun takes over the CEO position from Susan Choe, who had come back to the company to reorganize the management team in 2010. Yun was brought in as the COO early this year to eventually take over the company once he was up to speed on its internal structure and processes.
Yun served at NHN USA from 2004-2010, where he worked as Chief Executive Officer of the company from 2008-2010. Yun previously worked at Sony Computer Entertainment Korea where he managed the PlayStation business, marketing and publishing.
