After a few roadblocks, Double Fine's Trenched finally has a release date for Europe. Microsoft has confirmed that the game will be sold under a new name - Iron Brigade - and released in Europe this September. Confirmation comes from a Microsoft press document issued at German games show Gamescom today.
"Xbox Live Arcade fans will also be able to get their hands on Iron Brigade, also known as Trenched, which will be released in Europe this September," the press briefing read.
Trenched had its European release blocked by a World War I Portuguese board game called Trench. Microsoft and Double Fine had no idea about the board game and were a bit shocked to find that someone else held a copyright on the name. Instead of fighting, Microsoft and Double Fine took the simplest route - renaming it.
The good news is that now Europeans can enjoy the action-strategy-tower-defense hybrid game in short order.

Isn't there already a game called iron brigade?

I'm fairly sure there isn't, or the trademark has lapsed. They will be double-sure now.
