RIFT developer Trion Worlds will take part in the Saturday, Oct. 15 charity event Extra Life. The fourth annual Extra Life charity event is a 24-hour video game marathon that raises money to help kids at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals around the world. Trion has formed an official Rift team and will hold in-game events in support of the day-long gaming marathon.
For the event, Trion is creating a Defiant guild and a Guardian guild. All participating players can request an invitation to join one of the guilds, allowing them to play with members of the Rift development and community teams. The Trion team will be playing for the marathon’s entire duration, creating new characters, leveling up, and hosting a number of in-game events. Everyone who participates will receive the in-game title of "the Charitable," and every character that is logged in for the entire 24 hours will receive the in-game title of "the Insomniac."
“While this is the first year Rift is being played during the event, many Trion employees and community members participated last year,” explains Cindy Bowens, Director, NA Community, Trion Worlds. “We have been looking forward to supporting Extra Life all year, and while we knew our community would be supportive, we are overjoyed to see all the gamers who have signed up to participate in the event. It is so wonderful to see gamers come together to support such a great cause.”
Participants will also be able to earn a variety of achievements and in-game awards, including Hooty the Owl, Cookie, and the Spaulders of Earthen Might. Characters of any level will be accepted into the guilds for the event, but only characters that start at level one and are registered with Extra Life will be eligible for the in-game awards.
