Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald following an appearance at last weekend's EB Games Expo, EA's COO Peter Moore responded to a heckler who had disrupted his presentation of Origin by basically saying that it "sucked."
"Like any piece of software, and I worked at Microsoft for enough years to say this, you launch software and continue to polish it, upgrade it, get feedback and make it better," he said.
He went on to say that over five million people are using the software on a daily basis.
"That's where we are with Origin. We're only four and a half months in and already over five million people are using it on a daily basis."
Moore went on to say that the public sees Origin as an unnecessary piece of software that ultimately gets in the way of the gaming experience. This feeling probably comes from those who played the PC multiplayer beta of Battlefield 3.
"I think in its broadest sense they think it is just EA's answer to Steam, and it is much more than that. Like any great content provider, you want to provide yourself with a platform to talk directly with your customers... That's exactly what Origin is all about."
"The console first parties understand what we are doing. I think the fans, the people that have to use it in the early going, are the ones that get it last in regards to what we are trying to do."
Clearly Origin needs more refinement so that it doesn't make players jump through multiple hoops to connect to a game in the future.

Re: Peter Moore: Origin Has 5 Million Daily Users
Oh, how unfortunate for you that we, the unwashed masses, cannot comprehend the glory of your glorious plan. Perhaps you could enlighten us. A good place to start might be explaining in just what way Origin is "so much more than" your pathetic attempt to mimic Steam.
Re: Peter Moore: Origin Has 5 Million Daily Users
Does this count or exclude the people that just have it set to auto login because that's the default?
